[Oh the Doctor has questions, all right, so many questions, but he's not the man who questions, he's the man who talks, sorry...so sorry...]

All right, so, this has been going on for generations, you say, so long that you cannot even remember which came first; the chicken or the egg - put another way, these Sound Eaters and the Room.

[Capital 'R' and everything... He shudders a little, places that don't need to be proper nouns being proper noun'd is usually not good.]

Yet you've had children, you've carried on, you've found ways to survive and- and that is brilliant, I have to give you that. But through all that, you've lived most of your lives in silence, finding alternative ways to communicate but not really talking, shouting, singing, laughing - all the best parts about being human, in my experience.

So! My question to you is, in all your years of living with these Sound Eaters, finding ways to avoid attacks, having your community suffer for it - has anyone ever been able to make contact, to communicate, with them?
