i googled this one for you, i shih tzu not

[It's risky, what he does, very risky. He's actively putting his shine on display, for one thing (and it's probably damn lucky these monsters aren't Shine Eaters or he'd be fucked). For another, a person would have every right to scream, or exclaim, or any other noisy reactions if a voice suddenly brute-forced its way into their head.

Jake doesn't get both of them killed right out of the gate, fortunately. This close he can feel Eddie tense up in surprise, but the other boy doesn't do any of the above; he pulls back enough for Jake to see his face, and what he finds there earns a smile, one that hints at amusement.

Eddie looks exactly how he'd felt when Arra had first done it to him, surprised and slack-jawed. The memory has a positive association for him--that something good could come out of these powers that had led a trail of death across two worlds.]

( Yeah, it's me. )

[His mental voice carries the tone of his smile. It hadn't taken him long at all to decide he liked Eddie, and he has no qualms sharing something that's become so intimate a part of him after Eddie had welcomed him into his company so quickly.]

( I can hear you when I'm talking to you like this. Long story, but it's something I can do. And you don't have to worry about whispering. )

[Strange, the curve balls life throws. He'd lost Roland somewhere on the way to Mid-World but in his place gained a fast friend. When thinking of friends, Timmy comes to mind... Timmy, who'll probably find Lon's body, a scorch mark on the floor, Jake missing, and wonder just what kind of bullet he'd dodged.]
