[Closed to Carpet] Election Essentials
Featuring: Merlan O'Keefe + Carpet
What's Happening? Vote collecting, counting, hellos, and other things
When: March 7~
Content Warnings: None.
Armed with a basket of votes from their small community, Merlan sets it down on the table and turns to her partner, who just happens to be a magical flying carpet. All things considered, this was not a big deal. If there were humans from everywhere in many universes, why not non-humans shaped like carpets? No biggie.
Magic does what magic does.
Considering legends and myths talk about people turning into swans, why not magic sentient carpets?
Heya, I'm pretty sure everyone's in here, so I guess we're going to tally these up and see who gets to lead. Kinda feels weird that I'm on the list, though, and sorting votes. I doubt I'll get any, though. Way too new.

For a moment, Carpet just considers the table and chairs--if he "sits down", there's no way he'll be able to reach the basket, not without long arms. He could bend over it, but that seems like it might look awkward, given normal human posture..... In the end, he decides to just stretch out and hover over the table across from her, setting his device down so he can sign.
That's proof of how much Constance trusts you already! She must know you'd be fair and do your best to help Reims.

And it was.
She glances up at Carpet and smiles as he signs. Merlan is getting used to it, the words, the signs. The locals and their signs are coming easier as well, like any other time she's been immersed in a foreign culture or language.
I will, always, do my best to help these people. It doesn't matter who's chosen, really. I'll do what's right by them.

The good thing about having so much trouble communicating is that people actually appreciate him acting out full-body emotions most of the time. So Carpet doesn't downplay his enthusiasm--in fact, he does a midair flip right there, before settling back in where he had been hovering. They haven't known each other long, maybe, but he's already certain of that much. Merlan is a good person, someone he can trust--someone the entire town can put their faith in, whether she wins or not.
Maybe one of us should count them out of the basket, and the other should count them back in? That way we're sure to not miss any!

Magic helps, too, if you want me to keep a running tally.
