MOD LOG #3

MOD LOG #3
Arriving in style
Content Warnings: Fighting, death, violence
Themes: Survival, plot
It's early in the day when it happens. The red dust that seems to be everywhere sweeps through the city streets, mixing with the steady patter of rain and making it hard to see and breathe. All red and leaving the taste of copper if inhaled, what could have been an easy day without any trouble quickly becomes anything but. While those in the community are heading for cover or finding ways to continue on through it, the new arrivals begin waking up in different cities all over the world. There won't be anyone to greet them, and leaving the room through the door is their choice - after doing so, they'll immediately step out into the city they were assigned. The streets are empty, houses abandoned, everything crumbling and in ruins. There will be signs noting their location, which they'll catch a glimpse of before a sharp push forward causes darkness to engulf them.
Waking up for the second time, in Reims but not in the Reset Room, they'll come to inside the red dust as it whips through the streets of the community. They won't be alone for long. Another person will be waking up beside them, and after a few moments of disorientation, try to attack. They might have weapons or use their hands, and they will not stop until they've taken a fatal blow. Their blood is dust, and they, along with their weapons, disintegrate after they've died. Can you stop them on your own? Will someone come to your aid?
The Sight of Lightning
Content Warnings: Poison, sex
Themes: Survival, plot
The day after the storm, the same red dust will find its way through Reims and come into contact with every person. Since the dust is everywhere, some might not notice that it's floating through the community and know that something is off. The effects don't begin until night fall, where everyone will feel the desire to seek out companionship of many different kinds. Though it is not always the case, the people that saw each other in color will "want" to be with that person more strongly than they might already, and will be more likely to confess or do something about it. Some might feel an intense need to be around another person, though not necessarily sexually - almost as if they need that person around them to be happy or content. For some, it might be a desire that can only be fulfilled by more than one person.
The effects wear off the next time the person gets wet. This can be a splash of water across the face or fully submerged. Or even drinking something.

Wait... did she just say that the knife disappeared too? ] Hold on. His knife disappeared? Where did he stab you?
[ The events seem to get stranger but from behind Maria, he sees more figures approaching. ] Blast! You're going to have to answer that later. We got company coming from behind you.

Standing well ahead from Poe, but not directly in front of him, Maria stands solid against the approach. An attacker shambles close brandishing another knife. As he swings for her, she shifts backward and disappears in a puff of silver flecks, which dissipate into the rain like the dust did. She reappears with a similar burst of light, only a few steps behind where she had been, nearly beside Poe, and now she has time to draw her blunderbuss from her jacket. She lifts the weapon without care to accuracy, enemy so close it would hit nearly point blank regardless of where she aims. The antique weapon hisses and fires, sound thunderously loud as a round exploded out and blew the hostile off his feet and into dust with a single shot. A weapon like that doesn't have a second shot ready, would need to be reloaded, which they don't have time for.
Maria flips it in her hand, gloved hand grasping the still hot barrel, ready to swing it at the next man to crack him across the skull. Seems his companion being blown away wasn't a deterrent, another sign these forms where phantoms or gone mad, both cause for Maria to put them out of their misery without hesitation.]

He's almost a bit late when he sees a wooden club get swung at him. Poe dodges before he can get whacked by it. The club comes after him again and he grabs the end of it with both hands. He yanks it forward towards him while kicking a leg at the attacker's chest to get them to loose their grip on it. The wooden club becomes an improvised weapon for Poe to use. He quickly uses it smacking the attacker as he's the one caught off guard now. And he doesn't stop at one smack, he does it again hard on the head several times before the attacker turns to dust and the club disappears from his hand. It's not so bad to do this. There's no guilt that comes either since it feels necessary to do since the situation almost feels never ending. ]

Maria can reach to retrieve her gun, after that. It served a fine blunt weapon, at least, the Hunter's Workshop had created a sturdy firearm.]

There's a small gulp as he turns his attention back to Maria. ] We should get moving before more show up! There'll probably be more along the way anyway.

Looking to Poe, she nodded, solid and stoic. She beckons him continue through the night.]
Lead on, good sir.

I'm Poe Dameron, by the way. Just, Poe. You don't need to say anything fancy with it. [ It wouldn't hurt to introduce themselves now that there isn't anything too crazy happening just yet. ]

I'm Lady Maria of the Hunter's Workshop. Waste not for time, we should continue moving. [greetings aside, standing still was not wise during a Hunt. She usher her along, but it's not long before the fog thickens, dustier red and heavier rain falling until all is obscured.
Maria is disappeared into the mist and ash, soon enough. Likely, she lost track of Poe and simply headed another way... but it's nearly like she hadn't been there at all.]
