MOD LOG #3
Arriving in style
Content Warnings: Fighting, death, violence
Themes: Survival, plot
It's early in the day when it happens. The red dust that seems to be everywhere sweeps through the city streets, mixing with the steady patter of rain and making it hard to see and breathe. All red and leaving the taste of copper if inhaled, what could have been an easy day without any trouble quickly becomes anything but. While those in the community are heading for cover or finding ways to continue on through it, the new arrivals begin waking up in different cities all over the world. There won't be anyone to greet them, and leaving the room through the door is their choice - after doing so, they'll immediately step out into the city they were assigned. The streets are empty, houses abandoned, everything crumbling and in ruins. There will be signs noting their location, which they'll catch a glimpse of before a sharp push forward causes darkness to engulf them.
Waking up for the second time, in Reims but not in the Reset Room, they'll come to inside the red dust as it whips through the streets of the community. They won't be alone for long. Another person will be waking up beside them, and after a few moments of disorientation, try to attack. They might have weapons or use their hands, and they will not stop until they've taken a fatal blow. Their blood is dust, and they, along with their weapons, disintegrate after they've died. Can you stop them on your own? Will someone come to your aid?
The Sight of Lightning
Content Warnings: Poison, sex
Themes: Survival, plot
The day after the storm, the same red dust will find its way through Reims and come into contact with every person. Since the dust is everywhere, some might not notice that it's floating through the community and know that something is off. The effects don't begin until night fall, where everyone will feel the desire to seek out companionship of many different kinds. Though it is not always the case, the people that saw each other in color will "want" to be with that person more strongly than they might already, and will be more likely to confess or do something about it. Some might feel an intense need to be around another person, though not necessarily sexually - almost as if they need that person around them to be happy or content. For some, it might be a desire that can only be fulfilled by more than one person.
The effects wear off the next time the person gets wet. This can be a splash of water across the face or fully submerged. Or even drinking something.

And she can't help wondering if he's alone here. She knows what it is to be alone as a young child. In this place it has to be even worse.
But she shakes her head at the offer. Instead she reaches out a tentative hand to lightly push down the piece of clothing. IF and when he looks back up at her, Eddie will find she's shifted and now seems to be fully clothed in her black, blue, and white X-men uniform. Still blue though, Raven doesn't want to have to hide here.]

It's evident, however, that his problem was definitely not with her being blue. Because a second later, he was smiling from ear to ear and mouthing a very sincere: COOL!
His hoodie gets pulled back on, and his eyes are stuck on the clothing. He slowly begins to sign before realizing that he has definitely not seen this woman before. He takes his device out instead and texts quickly:)
That is the coolest shit EVER. Are you a mutant or something?
(He is almost positive that's the X-Men symbol. He recalls seeing it on Kurt's own uniform. He quickly texts out:)
Don't worry. I've met loads before. I know about being careful with that kinda thing.

But he knows mutants! And he's not scared. A very uncharacteristic smile starts to grow on her face. Something like relief and hope swelling in her too. It's a rare feeling that she allows herself.] Yes, I'm a mutant. [There's a tentative scaled blue hand held out for him to shake, the other hand still typing.] I'm Raven. Or you can call me Mystique.
Where have you met other mutants? Here? [She's hopeful there may be more of them here than just herself and Logan. Not that she isn't grateful for Logan's company, but she's not entirely sure what to make of him and the shared history in a future she'll never know thanks to him.]
no subject
Hi Raven. I'm Eddie. Is Mystique your code name thing?
Not here, no. Erik was around for a little, but I don't think he's here anymore. (He's almost positive she would recognize the name. He makes a vague gesture behind him.)
But I was on a ship called Avagi just before this and there were loads of mutants there. Kurt was blue too but he had a tail. And Rogue basically became like my sister. I knew Charles and Logan.
no subject
Raven's eyes widen at the list of names.] Erik. Was here? [And now he isn't. Does that mean he's dead? There's flash of pain at the thought but she quickly attempts to hide it. And then he mentions Kurt's name. And Charles. She looks pained yet again. The longing to see all of them pulls at her.] We're they safe there on the ship...?
Logan is here now. I saw him in the storm.

He gives a nod.) For a while. i kind of maybe yelled at him. (Might as well be honest? Eddie does notice the grimace, though he isn't entirely sure if that meant she had a bad relationship with Erik or if she was sad she missed him. Then it happens again, and it's soon evident that yes, she hurt to have missed them. It wasn't anger. Or at least, he figured as much.)
Very safe. Erik was safe here too. I'm sure he and the others went back home. That seems to be what happens.
Yeah I think he's living with me actually. He's kinda scary. Nice, but scary.
no subject
That's Logan's general vibe, yes. But he's a good man. [Raven may not know him well. But she knows that much about him.]
no subject
I guess i dont. i just lost two of my best friends too. i guess i just need to hope they're somewhere safe and good or else i'll never sleep again.
(It's too honest, maybe, but at the same time he realizes that honesty about the people you love is something that's needed. So his answer is as much for him as it is for Raven. He pulls himself back together quickly enough, and gives a small smile, though it isn't quite as bright.)
I was really good friends with his daughter. And I trust her opinion of him. He seems like one
no subject
His daughter? What's she like, I don't know her. [It's hardly a surprise that Logan would have one. These things were bound to happen and he's been around for quite some time too.]
no subject
(That might be for both their sake that he explains that. If a reality-warping clown-demon could come through, then certainly one lost child could as well.)
She's
(Eddie pauses, contemplating Mystique. Then he starts up again.)
Sorry. I know that a lot of you guys go through stuff. i try and be cautious about who i talk about things with.
She apparently spent a load of time in some lab because she was a mutant. She was my age about and she didnt know a whole lot about the world because of how she was raised, but she had a really good heart. First thing she ever told me was that she protected me. When I first showed up in a world I freeeaked out and she instantly wanted to take care of me.
(His expression gentles, and God, he did miss Laura. She was one of the best friends he had ever had.)
she was a lot like her daddy though. Including how her powers worked.
no subject
And men and women who experimented on mutants. And children? Her jaw is tight.] I hope they paid for what they did to her.
no subject
I hope so too every day. it's fucked what people want to do to others who are different. especially when they're just little kids. i'll never understand why everyone wants to hurt us so bad.
(They're small and brittle. Even Laura with all the power of a mutant inside of her was still small and fragile in her own way. Maybe not physically...But Eddie knew that there were ravines of mental scarring all throughout her.)
I'm sorry. For what it's worth, while I was getting to know her, we had a LOT of fun to make up for both our pasts. And I think she was starting to be really happy. She mostly kept me safe but I promise I was trying to keep her safe too
no subject
Do you feel safe here...?
no subject
But he understood that mutants had rough lives by default. He knew that wasn't fair either. Her question has him staring up and he gives a small shrug.)
I feel a lot safer here than i did back home.
(This place was very far from perfect or some kind of paradise. But there were good people here and that, Eddie thought, counted for a lot.)

I havent met anyone here who would judge someone for being blue or anything. people here are nice. for the most part anyway
no subject
But in some ways I'm lucky. I can hide a lot easier than some mutants. Since I can look like anyone. [To put a solid point on that fact she does more than make it look like she's wearing clothes. Scales ripple and Eddie is suddenly faced with a blonde woman, with pale skin, and blue eyes.]
