MOD LOG #3
Arriving in style
Content Warnings: Fighting, death, violence
Themes: Survival, plot
It's early in the day when it happens. The red dust that seems to be everywhere sweeps through the city streets, mixing with the steady patter of rain and making it hard to see and breathe. All red and leaving the taste of copper if inhaled, what could have been an easy day without any trouble quickly becomes anything but. While those in the community are heading for cover or finding ways to continue on through it, the new arrivals begin waking up in different cities all over the world. There won't be anyone to greet them, and leaving the room through the door is their choice - after doing so, they'll immediately step out into the city they were assigned. The streets are empty, houses abandoned, everything crumbling and in ruins. There will be signs noting their location, which they'll catch a glimpse of before a sharp push forward causes darkness to engulf them.
Waking up for the second time, in Reims but not in the Reset Room, they'll come to inside the red dust as it whips through the streets of the community. They won't be alone for long. Another person will be waking up beside them, and after a few moments of disorientation, try to attack. They might have weapons or use their hands, and they will not stop until they've taken a fatal blow. Their blood is dust, and they, along with their weapons, disintegrate after they've died. Can you stop them on your own? Will someone come to your aid?
The Sight of Lightning
Content Warnings: Poison, sex
Themes: Survival, plot
The day after the storm, the same red dust will find its way through Reims and come into contact with every person. Since the dust is everywhere, some might not notice that it's floating through the community and know that something is off. The effects don't begin until night fall, where everyone will feel the desire to seek out companionship of many different kinds. Though it is not always the case, the people that saw each other in color will "want" to be with that person more strongly than they might already, and will be more likely to confess or do something about it. Some might feel an intense need to be around another person, though not necessarily sexually - almost as if they need that person around them to be happy or content. For some, it might be a desire that can only be fulfilled by more than one person.
The effects wear off the next time the person gets wet. This can be a splash of water across the face or fully submerged. Or even drinking something.

Castle might as well have stuck a knife in him and twisted it. There were so many questions. How did Jones kill the psychopath twice in the time he saw her last, walking out of the bar in Hell's Kitchen and telling her she had a friend in Harlem? Just how long had he been in Mesa, Arizona? Luke didn't recall nightfall before arriving in the red cloud of dust. Tears collected in his eyes and threatened to fall but somehow he held them back.
It wasn't as if Luke didn't know the truth about Reva, but that didn't mean she deserved to die--much less place that guilt on Jessica. What had happened to him in Seagate was one thing. Kilgrave had violated Jessica in ways that were unspeakable, Luke only barely getting a taste. He didn't realize that he'd been shaking his head the entire time Frank spoke. The clutch on his shirt hadn't released but did loosen.
One last shake of his head in disbelief and Luke finally let go. ]
I...
[ Luke swallowed thickly, bringing his hand to his face and roughly wiping down over it. He wouldn't give in to the emotion that came to the surface. His eyes picked up from the floor to where they fell and stared numbly at Frank. ]
There's no death here so he gets to play his sick games over and over. And Jessica has to deal with it? What fresh hell is this?
[ Kilgrave wouldn't be the only one Luke would stay away from. He couldn't imagine Jones would want to see him with the reminder constantly around of what had happened between them. It dawned on him as he finished speaking that Castle seemed to know a lot. He suddenly felt the urge to straighten up and give the appearance of having himself together, even if it was a lie. ]

the question gets a snort, hard and free of mirth. in so many ways, this had become a home. some place comfortable despite its hellish qualities. but kevin thompson taking up space here had indeed made it hell, for jessica and for himself. and for a select few others. he thwaps luke on the arm companionably again, he was in the same position the other man was in. he gets it, maybe better than anyone else. it doesn't matter if they're very different people back home -- here it amounts to the same thing. ]
Now you're gettin' it. At least you missed Act One and Two. [ that's about the best he can offer the other man. there are things to be done, and kilgrave is his own problem now. they're officially too busy to worry about people who refuse to stay away from that idiot. ]
no subject
Wait, did you say you're not influenced by him anymore?
no subject
Not here. [ he shows him the screen since he isn't sure where luke's device is. does he have one yet? he doesn't seem to know what's going on, but that could be disorientation from the shared dream experience. frank's eyes jump towards the door leading outside. he'll tell luke everything once they're in a secure location. ]

They were in a room alone. He didn't understand the sudden need to relocate but gave Castle the benefit of the doubt. Cautiously, Luke followed him out and tested his powers on the way (sliding the top of his hand across an edge to see if it would cut him, crushing a solid surface with his grip). He couldn't help but keep a vigilant glance around for Kilgrave. ]

there's a vaccine
i'm almost a month in
it works
[ frank turns to meet the man's eyes, his own gaze a little wild as he waits for that information to sink in. ]
no subject
What good was an injection to someone with unbreakable skin?
Luke eyed Frank and the device in hand. What made Castle so sure these things were secure? If the man hadn't been a Marine, particularly one who singlehanded took down some of the biggest crime syndicates in New York City, Luke would have more trust issues than usual. ]
I wont second guess whether or not it works. Im sure Jessica wouldnt let that happen
But this vaccine isn't going to work on me
Not unless I can drink it and it works that way
[ He had no idea how much Castle knew about him but it was possible Jessica had talked about him if he'd known about Midland Circle. ]

[ he was there with luke, he knows what he can do. but there has to be a way, doesn't there? ]
i know a nurse. she'll know a way.
[ tears fill his eyes, feeling for jess and feeling for luke. there's no way he'll let kilgrave get a hold of luke. not when he could hurt so many. ]
where are you staying?
no subject
House 3
I barely looked at anything before that nightmare loop
[ He looked up, willing to keep positive and trust in Castle although uneasy with the idea of Kilgrave back from the dead. ]

[ frank is careful to meet luke's eyes then with an unwavering gaze. he also isn't in the habit of making promises he can't keep. and a man with luke's abilities controlled by that dick would spell disaster for this place. he won't let that happen, not when he has the power to stop it. ]
the nightmare thing. that happens sometimes when new people arrive.
let's go get some stuff for your room.
[ just like that, frank is heading off towards town to see what they can find. he knows luke could carry it all himself and more, but he doesn't want to let him out of his sight and he doubts he could convince him to let frank handle it. besides, getting beds for people had been his unofficial first job in this place, and one he still takes seriously to this day. you don't really live somewhere if you don't have a place to lay your head. ]
no subject
So he gave Frank a nod. ]
Sorry about that
[ Frank seemed fine but Luke couldn't help apologizing. He could've chosen to fight him to get the nightmare to stop but instead, Castle fought alongside him. Luke would follow him now. ]
no subject
it wasn't your fault [ any of it ]
no subject
Still. You couldve fought me instead of with me
Thank you for that
[ His eyes checked around as they walked. Luke wasn't sure what made him more uneasy at this point; Kilgrave or the sound eaters. He looked back to Frank. ]
Youre sure you are immune?
[ Hopefully that question was vague enough and didn't alarm Castle into feeling Luke couldn't keep his mouth shut. ]
no subject
[ he offers up a shadow of a smile, then nods to the question. ] i'm sure - i tested it.
