MOD LOG #3
Arriving in style
Content Warnings: Fighting, death, violence
Themes: Survival, plot
It's early in the day when it happens. The red dust that seems to be everywhere sweeps through the city streets, mixing with the steady patter of rain and making it hard to see and breathe. All red and leaving the taste of copper if inhaled, what could have been an easy day without any trouble quickly becomes anything but. While those in the community are heading for cover or finding ways to continue on through it, the new arrivals begin waking up in different cities all over the world. There won't be anyone to greet them, and leaving the room through the door is their choice - after doing so, they'll immediately step out into the city they were assigned. The streets are empty, houses abandoned, everything crumbling and in ruins. There will be signs noting their location, which they'll catch a glimpse of before a sharp push forward causes darkness to engulf them.
Waking up for the second time, in Reims but not in the Reset Room, they'll come to inside the red dust as it whips through the streets of the community. They won't be alone for long. Another person will be waking up beside them, and after a few moments of disorientation, try to attack. They might have weapons or use their hands, and they will not stop until they've taken a fatal blow. Their blood is dust, and they, along with their weapons, disintegrate after they've died. Can you stop them on your own? Will someone come to your aid?
The Sight of Lightning
Content Warnings: Poison, sex
Themes: Survival, plot
The day after the storm, the same red dust will find its way through Reims and come into contact with every person. Since the dust is everywhere, some might not notice that it's floating through the community and know that something is off. The effects don't begin until night fall, where everyone will feel the desire to seek out companionship of many different kinds. Though it is not always the case, the people that saw each other in color will "want" to be with that person more strongly than they might already, and will be more likely to confess or do something about it. Some might feel an intense need to be around another person, though not necessarily sexually - almost as if they need that person around them to be happy or content. For some, it might be a desire that can only be fulfilled by more than one person.
The effects wear off the next time the person gets wet. This can be a splash of water across the face or fully submerged. Or even drinking something.

[ Her brows pinch, concern etched into her expression before she can suppress it. As a woman that has always worn her heart on her sleeve, it's impossible to hide what she feels: conflicted, uncertain, worried.
Insisting she had seen him only moments prior would make her seem reasonably insane, but it's the thought of struggling to tell him that the Resistance is barely an ember of hope now that nauseates her above all else. She swallows, taking Finn's hand in hers as she tries to lead him away, tugging lightly as she moves toward an abandoned building in the distance.
Taking a deep breath, she starts, quiet and slow: ]
I survived. Chewbacca — he came back for us with the Falcon, and then...
[ She pauses, squeezing his hand lightly, to bolster herself. ]
I had to bring you to medbay. I would have stayed until you'd healed, but I — General Organa sent me to find Luke Skywalker.

An uneasy blackness.
So part of him realizes that yeah, if he survived the fight he'd probably be out of it for a while. But if he didn't...
Well.
Rey saying that she'd seen him. And he'd seen her.
It means he's alive.
(The question remains to him, how badly injured did it leave him? He dimly remembers waking up here in that...ridiculous suit. So obviously he was alive, come on now, Finn. They don't stuff dead people in medical suits with all those liquid filled hoses.)
While he's in this thought process he lets Rey lead him without much struggle.
No one yelling "stop taking my hand" at least. He listens to her brief recap and squeezes her hand in return.] Hey. It's okay. Finding him is seeing the rest of the mission through. [Though. Part of him honestly wishes she could've stayed.
He can see Leia's decisions there from a leader's standpoint.] Guess I'll have to thank Chewbacca if he shows up here. [Though he doesn't know if he'll be able to stop with his growling way of communication. And if Finn was alive and in the medical bay, it wasn't important enough to keep her there.]
Did you find him where the map said?

She doubts he can fully comprehend her remorse without knowing that the Resistance has been scrambled, barely thriving but — selfishly, perhaps — she accepts his reassurance for what it is, without correcting him or arguing otherwise. ]
Let's hope Chewbacca doesn't show up.
[ The selfishness inside of her wants that familiarity, that companionship, desperately; the pragmatic side to her recognizes the danger it would place him in. ]
It was Artoo that had the other half of the map. That's where I found Skywalker. [ A pause as she squeezes his hand tighter, and tilts her head to get a better look at him. ] Have you heard of Ahch-To?

Once he gets a full update or goes through it himself he might feel a little differently. Maybe. He's gonna feel differently about a lot of things. But one thing is certain at least, he's gonna still be happy to see her safe and sound. Even if she is floating rocks.]
Him or the droids. [Finn can agree with that one.]
Ahch-To? [Shaking his head.] Sounds like something out in the Outer Rim.

[ She trails off, something wistful in her tone. For as disappointed as she had been that Luke Skywalker — an idol to so many, a mythical hero — hadn't matched the image she'd had of him, her wonder hasn't faded. To go from an empty desert, to a bountiful island, had been as nearly enchanting as seeing so much greenery for the first time on Takodana.
Her lips twitch upward, though it doesn't quite become a smile. ]
Peaceful. I'm not surprised — the first Jedi temple was built there. But there was something more to it, like I was meant to find it.
[ Destined, fated, to stumble across that island she had envisioned on lonely nights. ]
