MOD LOG #3
Arriving in style
Content Warnings: Fighting, death, violence
Themes: Survival, plot
It's early in the day when it happens. The red dust that seems to be everywhere sweeps through the city streets, mixing with the steady patter of rain and making it hard to see and breathe. All red and leaving the taste of copper if inhaled, what could have been an easy day without any trouble quickly becomes anything but. While those in the community are heading for cover or finding ways to continue on through it, the new arrivals begin waking up in different cities all over the world. There won't be anyone to greet them, and leaving the room through the door is their choice - after doing so, they'll immediately step out into the city they were assigned. The streets are empty, houses abandoned, everything crumbling and in ruins. There will be signs noting their location, which they'll catch a glimpse of before a sharp push forward causes darkness to engulf them.
Waking up for the second time, in Reims but not in the Reset Room, they'll come to inside the red dust as it whips through the streets of the community. They won't be alone for long. Another person will be waking up beside them, and after a few moments of disorientation, try to attack. They might have weapons or use their hands, and they will not stop until they've taken a fatal blow. Their blood is dust, and they, along with their weapons, disintegrate after they've died. Can you stop them on your own? Will someone come to your aid?
The Sight of Lightning
Content Warnings: Poison, sex
Themes: Survival, plot
The day after the storm, the same red dust will find its way through Reims and come into contact with every person. Since the dust is everywhere, some might not notice that it's floating through the community and know that something is off. The effects don't begin until night fall, where everyone will feel the desire to seek out companionship of many different kinds. Though it is not always the case, the people that saw each other in color will "want" to be with that person more strongly than they might already, and will be more likely to confess or do something about it. Some might feel an intense need to be around another person, though not necessarily sexually - almost as if they need that person around them to be happy or content. For some, it might be a desire that can only be fulfilled by more than one person.
The effects wear off the next time the person gets wet. This can be a splash of water across the face or fully submerged. Or even drinking something.

[Kurama misses the kiss in his efforts to conceal his own emotions. Apparently unsuccessful efforts; he glances up immediately at the light touch and the way it shivers through him from the dust's effects.
It's not hard to read the question on Goro's face. Damn it. Akira he might risk lying to. He hasn't made any promises here and Akira is, in general, a forgiving person.
Goro Akechi, aside from being too perceptive by half, also holds grudges like a champion. Lying to him presents too much risk of an irreparable break. And while part of him thinks that might be for the best, he can't bring himself to do it to a boy whose only transgression is not being his boyfriend.
So. Deflectors on full.]
Nothing anyone can change, Goro-kun, so there's no point making anything of it. I appreciate your concern, however.
[The smile he offers is still a little sad but it lightens quickly as he deliberately lets the warm fuzz of the dust curl around him again.

...?
[ He's pretending his own cheeks are darker as he looks from Goro to Kurama. After reading the device, it doesn't take him long to connect some dots here. Briefly, his lips draw together a little tightly in consideration... ]
Last I heard, there are lots of things about this place that nobody can change...
[ Akira lets his gaze rest on Kurama for a moment. ]
That doesn't mean the weight of a burden can't be shared. Or that we shouldn't occasionally lean against each other, for support.
[ He holds a blink, then briefly points to his right temple. ]
The whole reason I got this damn scar in the first place was because I fought too hard to lighten everyone else's load, and ignore my own limits. Don't forget about the people around you. Some of us are more than ready to help.
You're important, too.

...and the same could be said of Kurama, it seems. You know what? Akechi's going to shift as much as he can without dislodging Akira or making him uncomfortable so he can lean over and wrap that arm around Kurama, drawing him closer. His hand finally leaves the sanctity of Akira's curls to sign.]
He's right. In many ways we are powerless here... But not to open up, just because you think things won't change... I think that's a mistake.
[He's obviously not just talking about Kurama, here... Anyway, he's going to just kind of. Wrap his arms around them both and draw them together for snuggles? Cuddle pile time!
Once they're all fully situated, he signs to Kurama.]
Let us help you. Please?

It's even enough to distract him from how familiar this lecture is from the other side.
It also makes him very easy for Goro to gather up, and he goes a little pink as he's dragged into the cuddle pile. He manages, at least, a position where neither boy should be able to feel his lack of heartbeat. Kurama resituates his phone and catches up on the last couple of messages there.
He just...still and silent (hah), for a long moment. Even when his fingers finally start to move across the screen, it's slow. But they are trying so hard to reach out to him, and the words spill out faster and faster, like a flood unleashed, like they're trying to escape before he can think better of it.]
I keep meeting people I know but every time, I'm a stranger. It's like I am The Unknown all over again and they could be dying in the glass cylinder of a dimension I can't reach.
Damn it. That won't even make sense to you. I apologize.
Call it separation anxiety. I miss them and I'm afraid for them.
I-... I now pronounce this thread revived!!!
He very slowly lets himself relax against them both as Kurama is drawn closer. But when he sees that text...
Akira's brow tenses quite a bit, his lips drawing together tightly. He actually doesn't even know what to say - what could he possibly say to help with this, when... heh... He is feeling his own form of that, by this point. Has been feeling it for a while, really, even if he... doesn't exactly jump to share details on any of those feelings.
For now... he's slowly reaching up to brush hesitant fingers through Kurama's hair, his gaze shifting to Goro. Why is it that Kurama's words have him wanting to reach out to the other wild card even more? He glances to the side for a moment...
... and then he gently rests a hand against the side of Goro's face for a moment; his thumb brushes the skin gently before he lowers that hand. It's such a bad idea, and yet...
of course it feels right, because that's how things have been working out for him these days, right?he doesn't quite want to stop himself. ]HELLA
But his incredulity is quickly overriden by empathy, and his gaze softens at the redhead. He.. knows exactly how he feels, and it prompts him to move forward, giving the other teen a gentle headbutt. His lips move soundlessly.
I'm sorry.
But his eyes widen when the touch comes to his cheek, and his gaze immediately flicks over to the other boy. He's caught for a moment, breath wavering, slightly unsteady at that thumb so gently carressing his skin, and when he feels it start to move away, there's a moment of— panic?
His hand flies up in a quick hurry to arrest Akira's and press it to his cheek again. He blushes... rather darkly at the realization of what he did, and closes his eyes to hide the conflict. These fleeting moments of affection are too cruel. At least now, while they're like this, let it happen. Let them be warm and affectionate without worry for the consequences.
Please...
Even the hand on Kurama's arm is pressing just a bit, asking him to be as close as possible. At least for a few moments, they can lie here and pretend that everything's not as fucked up as it really is. That all of them aren't miles away from the people they love, whether literally or figuratively.]
>.>
They'll notice if he stops breathing. He doesn't want to have that conversation right now. His fingers are just as unsteady on the device. He's managing to hold even against the dust but his grip on his own emotions is shattered.]
i'm sorry
it hurts but you two arent'
I shouldnt talk to yo u about this? i know you asked but i dont want you to feel wrong that you're you and not them
[He manages to slip the device somewhere safe before melting entirely under the pressure of Goro's hand, letting himself, letting both of them, have that requested closeness. Kurama very nearly curls around the other boys as best he can, struggling to pull his composure back into place.]
