[ At some point well after midnight, the time had changed from being exceedingly late to exceedingly early. 3AM? 4AM? All Majima knew was that his body felt heavy, but his mind was loath to stop spinning.
He had a lit cigarette in hand as he found his way to the fountain, and here at least he could watch the stars reflected in the pooled water. They shone with a cool light he'd never been able to see back home. And should he run into anyone here or on the way, he might as well stop and ask: ]
Trouble sleeping?
B: So when I'm on the streets, I walk around with a bigger one (During April, gym on a rainy day)
[ The anniversaries are the worst.
He’d said something like that to Will not a month ago, feeling at the time that it was both true and needed.
But remembering a thing and living it were two different things. The small contraption in front of him launched its pitch; there was a crack of the bat as Majima hit it square on, sending the baseball whirling into the net beyond. He propped the tip of the bat against the polished wood of the gymnasium floor, turning to look back at whoever had come up behind him. ]
Too bad this ain't for real. Woulda been a home run.
[ Small consolation when your brother was on death row. ]
C: Whoop-whoop, I hear it all day (Throughout April, karaoke only on rainy days)
[ Throughout the month of April, Majima could be found at the bar off-and-on between trips to Paris and elsewhere. Visitor might be lured in by the smell of pizza (something he was still trying to perfect in the days leading up to the festival), overhear the faint strains of music from inside on a rainy day, or simply walk in to find him measuring off wood or bits of wire for some sort of construction project.
As long as the sign read OPEN, there was plenty of room for interruption.
...Maybe even if it said CLOSED. ]
D: Just so they can run the light and be upon their way
[ Majima picked his way along the street, occasionally pausing at one of the quaint, crowded old storefronts to see a small gallery, a restaurant, a book store. On the other side of the old pavement were what he assumed were old residences. Which might contain valuable resources? Which were most likely to be moldering death traps? ]
I hear in the future, they call this 'urban exploration'. Buncha kids with too much time on their hands wander around takin' pictures of condemned parks, churches.
Stuff like that.
[ ooc: I'm planning for this prompt to take place around one of two places. Let me know which you're interested in!

"Take only photos, leave only footprints!"
I guess we're not really following that today.... [he tries not to chuckle at the group chat between himself, Majima, and Poe. He'd recruited both other men to go along one day to scope out the museum in Reim's, curious if there would be abandoned artwork. Victor wanted to "rehome" the lost pieces!
....Yuuri thought it was just stealing. Concerned noises were made. Victor ultimately wasn't phased.
Getting close to the museum, it's quite beautiful still, even with some overgrowth and in such disrepair. Victor gives it a wide eyed look before going back to his communicator to tap away at his companions]
WOW, how do we get inside??

[ Were they on the search for secret urban ice skating rinks? Majima could only shake his head. ]
Borrowed a couple tools from the construction group. If we can find a door we can take off the hinges, or a nice rotted window frame, that'd be perfect.
[ Did it seem like he was getting better at breaking into places? He was. ]
Whattaya think, Poe? Got any preferences?
c
He leans it against the wall near the door so as to not drip water everywhere.]
What are you doing?
no subject
Karaoke, of course. Gotta test out the new machine.
Wanna give it a go? Really helps vent some of that frustration.
no subject
You really gotta ask? Who would turn down karaoke?
[Once close enough, Sora takes the microphone.]
Just so you know, I probably don't know the song. [But he's going to sing it anyway.]
no subject
[ Hell, singing badly could be just as fun as singing well. And in this case, Majima was so gratified to finally have the opportunity again that it wouldn't matter if Sora couldn't carry a tune in a whole damn bathtub. ]
Here, I'll start it back up for ya.
[ get ready...go! ]

Full of despair inside a darkness
Self conscious and scared, held prisoner of war
Running out of air, buried in a sadness
Want a way out of this paralyzing world
And the sound of the cries when a family's loved one dies
It echoes through a vacant room where a young soul still resides
When the night is cold and you feel like no-one knows
what it's like to be the only one buried in this hole
You can make it to the sunrise.
(Woah. Woah. Woah)

Not bad. Give that one another spin or two, and I bet you'll be beltin' it out like a pro. Alright, let's see here...
[ It seemed like there was a pretty wide variety of songs available, so as Majima scrolled through the list, he wasn't surprised to see one he recognized. ]
Ha, this one brings back memories. Alright, lemme see if I got this one in the bag.
[ Which was how he got into Bakamitai, an oldschool tearjerker that sounded like it came right out of a vintage J-Drama. Majima didn't bother with embarrassment or hesitation, either, lingering over the mournful notes and selling the melodrama as the last strains of the song faded. ]
Forgot how much fun this is.
Wildcard - The Exodus
He wasn't on community guard today, but he wandered the town regardless, keeping vigilance. With food in short supply lately, he finds himself peaking into the green house on occasion, as if looking at the peppers and cabbages might make them grow faster.
It doesn't, but he does see a familiar face.
9S smiles and makes a beeline for him, signing as soon as he's in front of him.]
Hey, Majima! What are you doing in here? Garden duty?
no subject
Nah, I thought I'd stop up here to see if Eddie and them were around. It's like a goddamn ghost town today.
[ Sure, it was early, but the most dutiful among the arrivals were usually up by this hour. He hadn't forgot about some Town Hall assembly, had he? Or maybe another one of those damn Sound Eaters had shown up somewhere -- one thing after another around here. ]

[9S punctuates his sentence by rubbing the back of his head. It's reassuring to know it wasn't his imagination, but... It also kind of wasn't.]
You could try contacting him via the device if you're worried.
no subject
[ So he'd come to check personally. With the word about Mike disappearing as of late, Majima was trying not to jump to conclusions here, but... ]
Listen, you feel like takin' a walk around?
[ Checking on people, was the implication here. ]
no subject
[That's what 9S says, at least. He's not sure what else he can say.]
A walk? Good idea. We can repair any eroded sandpaths on our way!
[9S will just try his best to distract them.]

He doesn't stay out during the day for too long unless absolutely necessary which is why he fetches his books in the dark. Riley's got a hood up over his bright blond hair but his long silver tail is slightly visible. When the scent of smoke catches his attention, he diverts to find the source. Once at the fountain, he places the books on the ground next to it.]
I don't typically sleep at night. At least not on this world.
The sun here is much brighter than mine so I stick to moving around when it isn't out.

[ No one was around when it was super late or super early, meaning that the only company Majima reliably was that of his own thoughts. And he knew better than anyone what a lousy deal that was. ]
I'm Majima. Nice to meet ya.

[Riley shifts to sit on the fountain edge. It does get a little boring - especially since nearly everyone is active during the day.]
Name's Riley, glad to make your acquaintance.
