FEATURING Mitsuha Miyamizu and you!
WHAT'S HAPPENING? Mitsuha's back from her reset and tries to resume her daily activities.
CONTENT WARNINGS References to character death, spoilers for Kimi no na wa
DAY After the event (~Early February)
NOTES There's a prompt for those in House 2; everything else is open!
HOUSE 2 ONLY.
[ some of you may be out exploring, but by the time you get back, you'll notice that at least one of the lights are on. strange, you don't remember that being there when you left the house last. a closer look and you'll discover that it's coming from the family room.
there is where mitsuha usually sleeps, her things arranged neatly up against the wall. she's lying down on the couch, covered with a blanket, facing the wall. seems like she's asleep, but...
there's the faint sound of a sniffle coming from the couch area. maybe someone's sick, or...? ]
GREENHOUSE.
[ eventually, mitsuha will emerge from house two (she has to for work) and can first be seen heading to the greenhouse. she looks absolutely horrible, though, simply by the expression on her face: she's pale and there's almost no color to be seen on her features, and she looks like she's stepping carefully, watching where she's walking, calculating every step.
it's unusual, for the girl who's normally bright and bumbling with energy.
still, if she bumps into anyone, she'll greet them with a little bow and take out her device. ]
Good morning.
VERDREL SQUARE.
[ perhaps verdrel square is the one place in town where mitsuha can find peace.
she's there, sitting near the fountain with a notebook in her hand. in contrast to the serenity of the greenery, mitsuha's writing furiously and she never once looks up from the page. but...she is sitting in the middle of the walkway, so when approached, she'll look up from her notebook, quickly close it, and get on her feet. she'll type on her device first, before she bows deeply in apology. ]
I'm sorry.
I hadn't realized I was in the walkway.
Please excuse me.

( greenhouse. )
lorem's surprise gives way to concern, a lot of concern, and she's quick to type out her response: ]
Good morning. I didn't mean to bump into you.
I was wondering where you've been. Do you have any plans for today?
no subject
I was just going to tend to the flowers.
How about you?
no subject
this is becoming more and more worrisome for her but she tries to push on. ]
I wanted to discuss something with you, actually.
But, if you'll allow, I can help you out at the greenhouse first. I've been meaning to visit since I miss taking care of flowers and I would love to spend time with you too, of course.
no subject
We can talk while we're tending to the flowers, Lorem-san. Don't worry, I can multitask.
[ that last sentence is a weak attempt at making lighthearted conversation. really...mitsuha is trying to be pleasant, but it's hard. she'd gotten too comfortable here, gotten used to not making any noise and talking to the people here that she had forgotten about the stark reality they live in.
that death is knocking on their door. always.
she looks at lorem, and then starts heading into the greenhouse. ]
no subject
was... was it related towards the trip to paris...? she thinks she recalls mitshua being there and that was a harrowing experience for everyone, one way or another. she wants to ask but keeps her mouth shut, unsure of how to word that question when it feels like she's fumbling with every other sentence.
at least the trip to the greenhouse gives her time to write and rewrite her message. ]
I was thinking of finding a place for the children, be it a house or a room to rent or own. Where they can play and have fun without fear of getting in trouble due to noise.
I was wondering if you'd be interested in being involved in such a thing.
no subject
Oh, that sounds like a great idea, actually!
Maybe later, though.
I need a break.
But I will let you know when I'm ready to help.
[ to put it lightly. ]
no subject
[ lore nods at mitsuha's response, knowing better than to push or probe. this is a good response and it's all she can hope for at the moment. laura may have had better luck given her tenacity but, well, there's a reason laura is laura and lore is lore.
she decides to try and switch to something else. something hopefully better for their chat. ]
What have you been up to these days? I don't think I've seen you in a while.
verdrel square
When she looks up, he smiles instinctively, but it drops when she apologises so.. formally. ]
hey no its okay
i just wanted to say hi
cos we havent met properly yet yknow
[ His eyes are glancing to the notebook. He's trying not to be rude, really he is, but he's painfully curious. ]
what were you writin about?
i couldnt read it so dont worry!! if its somethin private i didnt see anythin
no subject
she can offer the smallest, faintest of smiles. so she does. at least make your first meeting count, mitsuha. ]
Oh, yes. I recognize you from the network.
My name is Mitsuha. It's nice to meet you.
[ as for the notebook...it's nothing too secretive where she can't share a summary its contents with him, but there are some very, very dark passages in there that she'd rather not show him the book itself. not yet. ]
This is my logbook. I'm using it to document interesting things that have been happening, since I think that sort of information can be useful in the future.
no subject
good to meet ya too!
[ For a girl who'd sent him cute emoji faces and had seemed so upbeat, it's a little weird to see her so timid. Maybe she's like Hinata, full of potential but held back by how shy she is? Naruto supposes it must be easier to be confident to a screen, rather than in person. ]
oh!
like stories?? but real ones?? thats a good idea yknow
are they just your stories or other peoples too??
no subject
[ ah, naruto. if only he knew... but mitsuha would never wish that fate on anyone. so she puts the book in her pocket, still smiling, and she nods. ]
Only my stories.
So...things about working at the greenhouse, what I've been reading on the network...things like that.
But if you have anything you want me to know, I can always write it down in here.
no subject
[ Naruto takes a seat, cross legged, and scratches his head in rather a silly caricature of someone deep in thought, but the expression on his face is genuine enough to make it clear he's being honest. ]
i dont really have any stories about bein here
not yet anyway
i'll make sure i come tell you if anything fun ever happens to me
i do knittin so even the job ive got isnt that interestin
[ He considers what she said for a moment, then: ]
i bet being in the greenhouse is pretty cool though huh
green house.
She knew that Mitsuha would return eventually, but she didn't expect to find her here.
Lu Li doesn't answer. It's debatable if she even saw the message. Her hands raise up, covering the approximation of where her mouth would be.]
no subject
she's frozen in place for a moment. and then, quickly, she bends down to grab the device and quickly type out: ]
Lu Li-san,
I'm so sorry.
I don't have the proper words to tell you how sorry I am. For everything.
I'm sorry that you saw what you did back then.
If I were more careful, neither of us would be in this position.
Really, I'm truly so, so sorry.
[ there's a few typos in there, but mitsuha hopes the message otherwise gets across. and after lu li reads her message, she's bowing. deeply.
she hopes it'll drive the point home. ]
no subject
She doesn't motion for Mitsuha to raise her head. She doesn't get out her device.
It takes one step to close the distance between them. Her embrace isn't warm. It's hard and cold, with too many edges to be truly comfortable. It's like resting one's face against a metal door yet Lu Li's gentle stroke of Mitsuha's head speaks volumes for the human comfort she can't provide.]
no subject
instead, she's wrapping her arms around her. mitsuha blinks for a few seconds--lu li is...not as soft as she was expecting and there's definitely some sort of odd characteristic to her body, but...
she's warm. and it's more than mitsuha can take.
she starts tearing up again as lu li strokes her head. but mitsuha is trying so, so hard to hold the tears back, to keep herself from sniffling because the fear of the sound eaters coming back for her is very, very real. but she's here. she's in one piece, and so is lu li.
and for now, that's all she can ask for. ]
no subject
Nothing she tells Mitsuha will make the memory easier to swallow. Nothing she gives will ease any fears because, ultimately, Lu Li is merely a fellow rat trapped in the same cage. But at this moment she can at least offer her the knowledge that Lu Li was truly, deeply grateful to see her alive.
She doesn't pull away. Lu Li keeps on gently stroking her head, letting Mitsuha take all the times she needs. She knows that some people would rather hide their crying faces until they're ready to be seen.]
no subject
it takes a while, but mitsuha finally calms down. her eyes are red and puffy, but she's no longer crying, and the sound eaters haven't come for her. that's a plus.
she looks at lu li. she's tired. they all are.
she takes out her device and types again: ]
Thank you, Lu Li-san.
You're so kind...
I'm sorry you have to see me like this.
verdrel square
[ Look, he remembered the right spelling and everything! He's glad to have bumped into her, wondering how she's been since the trip to see the sound eaters... ]
What were you writing? [ He gestures to her notebook. ]
no subject
but when he mentions the book, she closes it. he can't see it. she doesn't want him to know what happened to her. she doesn't want him to worry. ]
Oh, this is just a journal that I've been keeping.
I think it'd be useful to write down things that are eventful while we're here, right?
Or any information that may be helpful in the future.
no subject
After a nod of understanding, Mike types: ]
How have you been since seeing the sound eaters?
no subject
I'm alright. Thank you for asking, Mike-kun. ^^
[ it's the best she could come up with.
but after a moment of thought: ]
Please don't go anywhere near them, okay?
I know that much should be obvious, but they're really scary... So be careful. I don't want anything bad to happen to you.
no subject
Why would I go anywhere near them? I saw them.
What happened? [ Mike knows something must have, he's clever like that. ] Did YOU go near them? You did, didn't you? [ Suddenly looking very upset for her and what she must have been through. ]
verdrel... square.......
It had been on his way here with A2, he'd wound up getting knocked unconscious. It had been just two days before that, he'd witnessed multiple deaths. And it had been not long before that, he'd--
... Akira's mind seems to be wandering a lot more lately.
But, it's not long into his walk, he spots a familiar form. He hasn't talked to her too many times, but he's talked to her enough to consider her a person he should approach, even if she's blocking a path that would lead him in a different direction from the one he's headed in.
He moves quickly; he sits down on the path next to her, not even hesitating once he's remotely close enough. And not moving to get up, even if she does move to stand (granted he might have sat down before she could) and send the apology. He pulls out his device, sending her a message: ]
Nice day, huh?
[ Everything's fine on his end...... ]
no subject
haha. if only.
mitsuha isn't surprised by his message, though; akira doesn't seem like the type of guy to sweat over the small stuff, and knowing that brings her a little bit of relief. the last thing she would've wanted was to inconvenience someone in a particularly bad mood or something of the sort. ]
I guess so...
How have you been, Kurusu-kun? Holding up alright?
no subject
Yeah...
[ ... His smile dims a little before he catches himself. ]
How about you?
greenhouse
Instead, the flying thing next to him sees her first. Its face is frozen in a carved, neutral expression; but it flits up to her all the same and tries to sit on her hand. ]
