[House 11 Spam]
[Staying in a house that is mostly completely silent around the clock is strange in a lot of ways. The silence itself is eerie and takes her a few days to get used to, considering she's used to living with Billy and Neil who are anything but quiet unless they're unconscious or not at home. She keeps expecting to wake up from a dead sleep to the sound of screaming down the hall, or something getting broken. Instead she lies awake at night, staring at the ceiling, hoping that no monster hears one of them breathing and Godzilla's the house and eats all of them.
The other thing that's strange is staying in a house full of boys and...a centaur. She feels an odd sense of belonging among them that's both a relief and also troubling. One thing that life's taught her over and over is not to get too attached to anyone. She doesn't want to get attached to anyone and yet she also wants the easy camaraderie that she sees with Bill and Eddie and Richie. The same kind she'd witnessed back in Hawkins with Lucas, Dustin, Will and Mike. She so desperately craves it, but she doesn't know how to make it happen, either.
After a mostly restless night of sleep, Max makes her way quietly through the house toward the kitchen, her stomach twisting with hunger. If any of the others are there, she'll lift a hand to wave at them.
She also sends the following message to everyone else who lives there, via the device:]
I think we should start soundproofing the house.
[Out and About]
[Max finishes her full time quiet maintenance work for the day and decides to check out the rest of the town. She carefully makes her way over the sandpaths, barefoot, and when she closes her eyes for a moment she can almost pretend she's at the beach. Almost. But not quiet.
She'll trek to as many places as possible, including the hospital, outside Town Hall, and finally to sit beside the fountain, wishing she had a pen and a notebook to write in.
Later she'll end up going through abandoned houses, looking for anything that might be useful to have at the house. Like a hairbrush since her hair is a mess, and while she's not a fussy person when it comes to her looks, it's driving her crazy.
She's also on a mission to find the library. The whole time she's out, she's keeping her eyes and ears peeled for monsters or people who look sketchy.]
[Open to People in House 9]
[Her last stop of the day is to swing by the house where Will and Mike live. She's there to see Will, so she shoots him a quick message (I'm outside on the porch of your house) but remains on said porch because she's not about to barge into someone else's house without an invite, and it's not like she can knock.]

house 11
When he finds her looking for food, he crouches to open one of the lower cabinets and pulls out a carefully wrapped up loaf of dense bread from one of the natives and a jar of some kind of spiced peach preserves. He doesn't know how long anything will last here, but he used to make snacks for Georgie when Bill got home from school, and it feels familiar to offer to fall into that here.
He sets his device on the counter and glances over at her, the dark circles under his eyes a good indicator that he hasn't slept yet. With a slower speed, he types out a message for her.]
Want me to make you a sandwich?
Eddie and I have been trying to get together supplies for sound proofing. Maybe we should focus on one room at a time?

Wordlessly, ignoring Max for now, he walks up onto the porch and, after a quick check that the hinges are oiled, opens the door. He then acknowledges her presence, looking back at her with a question in his eyes. What are you doing here?]

Out and About
Arya is restless here and has taken to following others around to keep herself busy. She's been trying to get a better idea of the people here. Who they were. Where they're from. The type to be trusted. Or avoided. Most people would do that by actually talking to them... but she's never been normal.
'Swift as a deer. Quiet as a shadow. Quick as a snake. Calm as still water...' Syrio's words still echo in her ears as she keeps to the shadows, silent and stalking. It's not likely Max will know she's being followed, but she may sense the eyes on her if not know from where. Arya is curious about the young girl and what she's doing. She's freely wandering the town by herself. Boldy. It reminds Arya of herself.
It is once Max is settling to sit at the fountain that Arya finally decides to make her presence known, moving out of her spot to casually sit next to her. She reaches into her bag to pull out a loaf of bread to eat, as though she's only just taking a break in her own travels too. Arya is older than Max, but only by a few years. She's shorter, but not be much. When Max looks at her, she'll offer up a piece of her bread, smile friendly. Arya is curious if she'll take it or if she'll be rightly suspicious.]

Out and About
For better or worse, Max's hair made her stick out among the drab exteriors of the abandoned houses; Majima waved to her, then tried some rudimentary signing in the language he'd begun to learn: ]

So he scurries as quietly as he can, tiptoeing across the house and pulling open the door. Once he sees her, he waves, then motions her inside. Come on, come on.]

supergirl runs into a pure girl!!!! (aka out and about)
And if she can't put her chin up, then, well. she doesn't have an alter-ego for nothing. drowning herself in mundane Supergirl tasks sounds like the best thing in the world (all the worlds) to her right now. so, Kara is flying over Reims, just mindlessly floating. the wind whipping around her helps with meditating, praying to Rao for strength. it's quiet - but everything is quiet here. This is a different quiet. It's peaceful.
when Kara opens her eyes next and looks down, there's a shock of red hair following a sand path to the hospital. she's all alone, and Kara can't judge ages from the top of someone's head, but she looks particularly small in a kid-way.
she wonders, not for the first time, why the Sound Eaters (if they're the ones even doing it) want so many children here. but that's a later question. for right now, there's a girl, by herself, in Reims, and that makes Kara too nervous to ignore. she types out a message on her device to have it ready and then floats down, landing at Max's side and falling in-step with her, holding her device up with a smile.]
Going foraging? Need some help?

In House 11
For a moment he's confused, thinking this must be rain. He places the noise a moment later and heaves himself up to come and peer through the cut out that allows the people in the kitchen to see out into the main house]
Max? [It's harder to tell in the night that she's the red-haired one, but he's mostly sure that this is her] Get me some water.
(no subject)
one of the days she shows up??
So he stops on the step Max is is sat on, leaning down to show her his device. ]
Will's taking a bath. [ He figures that's why Max is here, for Will, to hang out. Part of him wondered after getting Lucas and Dustin to fawn over her, whether Will was her next target. ]
Sure!

Any of the quiet spells she knows have fizzled. It's maddening.
Kinda like the lack of a hairbrush.
She turns a corner and stops short before sending out a text meant for the general area. It's just a flash of red hair disappearing that she catches.]

ROLLS UP LATE WITH FRENCH STARBUCKS
For a brief time Jake thought he was finally getting a grip on the menagerie of terrors that have made homes in his mind, but as it turns out, his imagination shares the same open-door policy as Reims: there's always room for more. The Sound Eaters are just the latest addition to the collection. In those early hours when his pulse is pounding in his ears and the fear is pounding in his head and he realizes he's back to the cycle of not sleeping, Jake gets up once villagers with pre-dawn jobs start to stir.
He's been outside for almost an hour when he gets a text from MadMax. Mad Max. It's still funny. Her username is becoming a familiar sight and he's glad when he sees it, picturing the redheaded girl on the other end.]
I was just thinking that, you read my mind. [HA.] You got a minute? I could use another set of hands to carry something that might help with that.
