Now We're Back to the Beginning(closed to boxes: team three | backdated 2/28?) [Kara's not expecting to stumble, quite literally, across a box on her doorstep. it's a small box, and she brings it inside before untying the twine wrapped around it. inside is a note: find the others. watch me. come to where you first arrived.
the latter is easy enough to figure out, but who's the others? The whole community? the natives, or arrivals like her? still, she's got nothing else better to do yet, so she starts making her way to the reset room, cape flowing behind her, note in hand.
when she arrives, there's three other faces in the reset room - all of them confused but not in that way that Kara is beginning to associate with death. with them is a laptop - an actual laptop - set on one of the work station tables Jan and Rosa had installed.
It's open to a video, paused at the beginning and ridiculously short. Kara pulls out her device.]
Have any of you watched it yet?
Will You Stay or Will You Go?(open) [Kara listens quietly, leaned back against a wall of the Town Hall, her arms crossed in front of her and the heel of one red boot resting on the toe of the other. There's a wrinkle in her brow as she processes what she's hearing, especially after all the footage has become known. It's a lot to take in - what all happened. So much of it doesn't make sense: where did the Sound Eaters come from? Why do some people not get reset - not even just natives. Some of them could possibly not come back!
She steadfastly refuses to think about what that implies for if she's forced to kill again.
Instead, she touches the arm of the first person she runs into as the talk wraps up with Constance, and the buzz of annoyed and worried people reaches a fevered pitch.]
Hey, are you okay after all of that?
Can We Build It?(closed to lucky team 13/Qetzi) [Kara's surprised at the message she receives, from a native she doesn't recognize the name of, asking for her help. she'll give it, willingly, but it's still surprising. Verdrel Square... that's where she met Lorem! It's a beautiful place, and just thinking about it makes Kara a little bit happier.
The request, though, is to build a fence around it, with a gate synced to their device, some kind of monitoring system. That's... weird. Why would they need that? Still, they've been here longer than she has, and survived longer than she has, so with a shrug, Kara searches out her work partner on the network to message them.
un: kdanvers Hi there! Did you just get a message about some fence project too?
Happy Little Trees (open!! precursor to the silent movie nights - post tbd. set 3/1-3/5) [everyone is processing all the news, and things are... well, they're always quiet. But things are still, eerily so. Kara has nothing to do, sitting in a bigger-than-needed house all day with nothing but her thoughts and a television hooked up to a rigged solar panel that she's pretty sure Tony Stark would laugh at. A lot. She's kind of been avoiding showing it to him.
It's during this stillness that there's a brush at the door, an attempt to push it open, but Kara has a chair pushed against the handle. she x-rays through the wood to see one of the natives, one of the demonstrators next to Constance when they had first arrived. she's holding... a huge basket, with the sleeves of her jumpsuit rolled up, and Kara hops up to open the door. behind the woman, a few more natives spill in, all carrying supplies that Kara doesn't... have any idea what the use of them is for.
With some explanation, she discovers they're here to help her soundproof. One slips her a text saying it's a thank you, and Kara has no idea for what. She's failed her job so many times now.
It's not just soundproofing, though! They've brought... a ton of supplies. There's paint, in bright and sunny colors, and some stuff from home - oh gosh, her blankets. Each day, the natives bring something new with them as they help her soundproof her entire house, holy toledo. At one point, they carry in baskets of flavored popcorn, and Kara can feel her mouth watering. On another day, they carry in couches, and then on the last day, beds, that Kara quickly grabs from them, oh geez. They shouldn't be lifting that much!
As they work, Kara gets to work painting. After they finish soundproofing a room, Kara paints it. Because everyone is so in-and-out right now, her door is open, for anyone to walk by and inspect a yellow-paint-covered Kara, hair pulled back in a messy, curly ponytail, painting her walls an dancing silently to a song stuck in her head. Hit me, baby, one more time!]
