As noted on the ooc plotting post, this prompt is in the form of a Network Post via the native who runs the Bulletin Board. The post can be found here. Out of the five separate teams, all groups decided to share the footage they found. On the morning of the first, the footage will go live as a compilation in order of oldest to newest. Character's devices will update at the same time. The weather is overcast and sullen, befitting the news, and characters can talk to each other on the network post or play out their reactions on the log here.

On the morning of the second, the locals will call a meeting at town hall. All soundproofing and partnering rules apply - find a person and help soundproof the area. This is so that everyone can speak during the meeting. The found footage has unsettled the natives and after the community takes a seat, Constance will share some interesting backstory. As one of the oldest members of the community, Constance wasn't alive when the Sound Eaters first came but she heard stories from her great grandmother. The 'tales' have taken twists and turns over time, leaving the survivors with a watered down version of events that amounts to - they came and everyone had to be quiet.

An elderly native will come forward and admit that they arrived through the Reset Room when they were a teenager and have been living there ever since. They tried to get home and they could never find away. Most interestingly, to those that listen closely to his story, is that he came with a sibling who was killed by a Sound Eater and wasn't Reset. Yet, he's known people to come through the Reset Room, die, and come back. Piping up from the background, another local mentions that those born in the world they're in now (natives) aren't reset when they die. It's not something they have any real understanding of. Arrivals tend to disappear at random times, stay in the community, or leave; those that choose to depart and explore the world never make it very far. Whether this is from Sound Eaters alone or someone or something else, the natives don't know. It's obvious they are frightened and don't go beyond what they know is safe.

The natives will now ask the characters if they will stay as permanent members of the community. If they choose to, they will be given the option to take on an apartment that is completely soundproofed, furnished, and will be accepted completely by the natives. This can open up doors for characters to become important parts of the community. No character has to agree to become permanent members. If a character chooses not to, the arrangement they're in will stay the same until a few months from now when the natives ask again. Arrivals are given the chance to talk to one another so that they can decide and digest the new information. There is also a comment below to ask the natives questions 'in front of' the entire community.

ooc: Players have until apps close this upcoming round to comment to the housing page saying that their character chose to be permanent members and are taking an apartment. The apartment is located closer to the Reset Room and are either one or two bedrooms; please note which one your character is taking.

The native Constance, who hands out the devices, has decided to step back from a leadership role and has submitted the names of those that she believes could lead the group better than she has. Please vote responsibly. During dinner, a group meal prepared and served in the town hall, slips of paper will be passed around with a pencil for everyone to vote. They will be anonymous unless the person chooses to share out loud who they voted for. There won't be much time for campaigning, but candidates are allowed to do so if they'd like - either handwaved or through their own posts/top-levels.

[Kara whips around, paint roller covered in yellow paint in her hand, splattering a few drops of paint on the floor, but she's not mad about it. she sees Will, hands dripping with paint, standing there just beaming at her, and she has to put a hand over her mouth to stifle her laughter, her shoulders shaking. she pulls out her device, typing out a quick:]

Wanna help?

[but she's pretty sure she knows what the answer is going to be.]

[Will grins, carefully moving his yellow-dripping hands to press against his jumpsuit, once, twice, multiple times, until most of the excess paint is spread over his clothes. Then, with a quick, daring look at Kara, he steps forward and presses his hand to the blank wall, peeling it away carefully, leaving a small perfect yellow handprint.

Then he nods, matter-of-factly. He's already helping, see?]

[Kara takes the edge of her roller and paints a wobbly circle around the handprint. Then, she starts painting around it, fanning the roller out, careful not to go past the circle or disturb Will's handprint. She steps back after a moment, admiring her sunny handiwork and nods her approval.]

Perfect!

[For a moment Will is worried that she's going to paint over it, and his face falls a little. But then she doesn't and he beams up at her with a mixture of delight and pure adoration. She's the best!!

His device is going to have little smudges of yellow paint as he types:] how many colors of paint do you have?

[Kara can't help but wince at the top of his head when she looks at his device all painted up. That's probably at least partially her fault, and she hopes it doesn't... stop working or anything. Yeesh. But, she reads his message and motions for him to follow her into the first doorway behind them.

it's the bare bones of her entertainment room, two off-white couches making an L and in front of them, a... reappropriated television balancing on a small wooden table. On the couches, thrown haphazardly to keep them off the floor and out of the paint, are some blankets and pillows in pastel blues, pinks, and purples.

Behind the couches is a row of paint cans that Kara leads Will to. The gallons are in a very light yellow, some white, and one light blue that reminds Kara of flying on a clear day. Next to them is a row of unopened pints with paint dots on the front labeling their colors. There's all the fixins for a rainbow, plus a white and a black to mix with the rest.]

This is what they've brought me! I'm pretty excited! :D

[Have you ever seen an eighth-grader ascend to a level of pure happiness and joy, Kara? Cause that's what you're seeing right now. Will looks halfway between delighted and like he's going to burst into tears, reaching out to gently touch one of the gallon cans.

Then he looks up at her, pleading and hopeful.] do you need any help? [Please say yes please say yes?]

Absolutely! I need lots of help! I take it you like to paint, huh? ;)

[Will shrugs, attempting to remain casual even though he's...literally covered in yellow paint right now.]

a little. how do you wanna paint everything? just one color orrrrr...?

[Kara looks at the empty walls, tapping her chin. sure, her walls were solid at home, but she misses her paintings, especially the geometric elephant. she'd just gotten that one! maybe it'll just... show up one day, like her blankets had. Like her favorite movies had.

She's not at all worried about what this means for her permanence here or anything, ha ha, nope.]

I'm not sure actually? I had a lot of paintings hanging up at my house in my world. And I've seen some really beautiful murals in some businesses I've went to. But I can't draw to save my life, so.

[she glances at Will out of the corner of her eye, a little conspiratorially.]

[Will is trying very hard to hide how he's lighting up like a little Christmas tree at the mention of drawing. He tries to look super casual as he types:] i can help? if you want me to?

[he's transparent as all heck, the enthusiasm just written all over his face, and Kara is so amused. she beams at him and nods.]

You are absolutely welcome to! :) I was actually thinking I'd use this room to host movie nights. The natives brought me some popcorn? So we could have popcorn and movies once the room's done. What do you think?

[Will has no subtlety, just art enthusiasm. He's practically bouncing on his heels at the very idea of a movie night, nodding emphatically.]

that's SUCH a good idea!! everyone would totally love that!

Awesome! Then we need to get this place spruced up, don't you think? Maybe some kind of movie murals or something?

[It doesn't seem possible, but Will's eyes get even wider and more hopeful.]

star wars?

[Kara's never seen Star Wars, sorry Will, but she's aware of the franchise. So, she nods. Why not? It could be cool!]

Sure! I don't see why not!

[Kara, you are his favorite person ever.]

can i do a dragon? there aren't any dragons in star wars but can i do one anyways if it's not too bloody??

[Kara looks around the room and then points above the bay windows behind the television. There's just a foot or so of wall before the windows start, a thin strip, but she has an idea...]

What about a dragon flying up there? You could even draw some fire coming out of its mouth above one window. That'd look cool!

[do ur worst, Will. Kara gonna support her son.]

[Will nods emphatically, bouncing up and down on his heels, then hurrying over to the window, like he's ready to paint it right that second.

But he has forgotten one thing: he is a smoll. He's five foot even, and that's nowhere close to being able to reach above the window. Watch his excitement drain away, leaving him a mopey-faced little thing.]

i'm too short. [Help him, mom.]

[times like now, Kara wishes she just... lived as Supergirl. Or that everyone knew she was Supergirl. Sure, some have met her and then saw her in a cape and figured it out. But, it's habit to keep that divide going, even in a hellscape.

Still, if Will knew, that would make this a lot easier. Instead, Kara looks around for anything sturdy and tall enough Will could climb up on. There's... not much, not yet.]

We can figure it out! Maybe we can paint the rest of the room (aside from the sky blue Majima has helpfully laid down) until we find a ladder!

[Will looks a little dubious, but then finally nods.]

i could do a little dragon? to start?

Dragons are SO cool. Little or otherwise. ;) So sure!

[she reaches out then, ruffling Will's hair with a grin.]

[Normally the hair-fluffing makes him indignant on some level, but since it's Kara, it's cool. It just makes him smile up at her before he starts carefully prying cans of paint open.]

[Kara's not sure if Will will come back to paint more after their last conversation at her house. Not that any part of it went wrong; it was just a lot to deal with. Heavy. Especially for a kid. Heck, it was heavy for her. She hopes he does, though, because the murals are looking amazing. And he never got to paint that dragon.

The natives have just about finished soundproofing, the last one walking out with a tired wave that Kara returns, and then as they leave through the open doorway, she floats up to the ceiling of the theater room, touching up the trim with some white paint on her brush.

She's dressed down as Kara, but she's alone, so float painting isn't a big deal, right?]

[Of course he's gonna come back, silly Kara, he's got dragons to paint! Plus she's one of the people he feels the safest around. Safe for himself and safe for others.

When he shows up, it's with a heavy backpack full of his own paints and some paintbrushes of various sizes. Of course, when he sees her floating, it sort of takes all his attention. Excuse him gaping, Kara, he's never seen someone levitate before.]

[Kara's into her work but she hears Will cross the threshold quietly, the near-silent snick of the door closing behind him. Her head jerks up, eyes wide, because she wasn't expecting anyone! She actually floats up higher, smacking her head on the ceiling.]

Ow.

[she descends, rubbing the top of her head with her empty hand, and gives Will a wave. At least it's Will, and Will knows. It could've been worse.]

Hey, you came back! [she stands on her tiptoes to look over Will's shoulder behind him.] What's in the bag?

[what? levitating's no big deal to her, so pardon her moving right along with her day.]
