MOD LOG #2

MOD LOG #2
Now we're back to the beginning
Content Warnings: Death, apocalypse, a shit storm generally, pigeon death
Themes: Survival, plot
As noted on the ooc plotting post, this prompt is in the form of a Network Post via the native who runs the Bulletin Board. The post can be found here. Out of the five separate teams, all groups decided to share the footage they found. On the morning of the first, the footage will go live as a compilation in order of oldest to newest. Character's devices will update at the same time. The weather is overcast and sullen, befitting the news, and characters can talk to each other on the network post or play out their reactions on the log here.
Will you stay or will you go
Content Warnings: NONE
Themes: Survival, plot
On the morning of the second, the locals will call a meeting at town hall. All soundproofing and partnering rules apply - find a person and help soundproof the area. This is so that everyone can speak during the meeting. The found footage has unsettled the natives and after the community takes a seat, Constance will share some interesting backstory. As one of the oldest members of the community, Constance wasn't alive when the Sound Eaters first came but she heard stories from her great grandmother. The 'tales' have taken twists and turns over time, leaving the survivors with a watered down version of events that amounts to - they came and everyone had to be quiet.
An elderly native will come forward and admit that they arrived through the Reset Room when they were a teenager and have been living there ever since. They tried to get home and they could never find away. Most interestingly, to those that listen closely to his story, is that he came with a sibling who was killed by a Sound Eater and wasn't Reset. Yet, he's known people to come through the Reset Room, die, and come back. Piping up from the background, another local mentions that those born in the world they're in now (natives) aren't reset when they die. It's not something they have any real understanding of. Arrivals tend to disappear at random times, stay in the community, or leave; those that choose to depart and explore the world never make it very far. Whether this is from Sound Eaters alone or someone or something else, the natives don't know. It's obvious they are frightened and don't go beyond what they know is safe.
The natives will now ask the characters if they will stay as permanent members of the community. If they choose to, they will be given the option to take on an apartment that is completely soundproofed, furnished, and will be accepted completely by the natives. This can open up doors for characters to become important parts of the community. No character has to agree to become permanent members. If a character chooses not to, the arrangement they're in will stay the same until a few months from now when the natives ask again. Arrivals are given the chance to talk to one another so that they can decide and digest the new information. There is also a comment below to ask the natives questions 'in front of' the entire community.
ooc: Players have until apps close this upcoming round to comment to the housing page saying that their character chose to be permanent members and are taking an apartment. The apartment is located closer to the Reset Room and are either one or two bedrooms; please note which one your character is taking.
Therefore I lie with her

The native Constance, who hands out the devices, has decided to step back from a leadership role and has submitted the names of those that she believes could lead the group better than she has. Please vote responsibly. During dinner, a group meal prepared and served in the town hall, slips of paper will be passed around with a pencil for everyone to vote. They will be anonymous unless the person chooses to share out loud who they voted for. There won't be much time for campaigning, but candidates are allowed to do so if they'd like - either handwaved or through their own posts/top-levels.
THE CANDIDATES:
- Frank Castle
- Erik Lehnsherr
- Teddy Upsilon
- Richie Tozier
- Akira Kurusu
- Merlan O'Keefe

What, so it's like a record, but for films?
[ wow look how tiny, the future it's here. he held it out for her ]
Seems like everything in the future just gets smaller. Back where I'm from, the bag phones are twenty pounds at least.
no subject
A bag phone? Is it a phone in a bag?
no subject
They're real heavy and delicate, and the batteries don't last long. Portable, technically, but the only guy I ever saw with one was killing his shoulders lugging it around everywhere.
[ But he was curious about this movie setup now. ]
You need any help with your home movie setup? Ain't exactly have a pressing appointment book at the moment.

[she gestures for Majima to follow her, putting the DVD back on a stack of Disney films placed haphazardly near the doorway of the entertainment room. there's two couches making an L, both facing a television yanked from the hospital and perched on a small table.]
I want to paint it but also decorate it some, and I still need to connect the television to the solar panel I made.
[she gestures to one of the huge windows behind the television. She should really invest in some curtains too, wow, because that sun is glorious but boy is it bright. In one window, where a glass pane used to be, is a very rough-looking, cobbled-together solar panel. Tony had shown her how to build them, but that... that did not make her an expert.]

If it's just a straight paint job, I can help ya out. You ask Will if he wants to put one of them murals in? Bet he'd eat that up with a spoon.
no subject
But sure, any help painting would be great. For this room, I was imagining a sky blue, especially as a base if Will does murals!
no subject
And yeah, he does. Probably paint anything ya asked him to, really.
no subject
Thank you SO much for this!! :)
no subject
[ He dipped his brush in the paint and took a long swipe across the exposed wall, covering it in bright blue. ]
Ya live here by yourself? The locals must like you.
no subject
She leans over and reads his message, shrugging with a grin.]
Well, I HOPE so, but I don't know. It really is too big of a place. Maybe I could share it. I probably should.
[as long as said people know she's Supergirl because boy would that get old fast.]
no subject
The alternative is they're pullin' the biggest long-term prank I've ever seen.
But yeah, you seem like the type with a lotta friends. And if new people are gonna keep poppin' up outta nowhere...
[ He shrugged, worked the movement into his painting progress. Might as well make some of these nerds feel welcome, right? ]
no subject
Yeah, and I'm not sure if they'd know what a prank or a joke was. Since, you know... laughter is a no-go. Yeesh!
My doors are definitely open if someone were interested. Until then, I've got some pretty nice guest rooms for friends to crash in!
no subject
Yeah... people need a laugh every once in awhile. You don't have that, and life can be pretty awful.
[ Unfortunately, the side he turned toward her with was his left, making it somewhat difficult to discern his expression. Stupid text messaging. ]
no subject
[it's hard to read his face, and that makes Kara hope he's not talking out of some weird kind of experience. She doesn't think anyone has came here from a different silent place, but that's not the only thing that would make laughter and joy... scarce.]
no subject
But considerin' everything else that's gone down, they seem to be doing pretty well for themselves. Don't have to worry 'bout having a roof over their head, they grow their own food.
[ He turned back to the wall, smoothing out a few drips. ]
no subject
I'm glad to see someone else still supports them after, you know... everything.
no subject
[ hey lady, are you trying to ruin his reputation? he'd never hear the end of it if people thought he cared ]
I dunno about that, but I figure I understand more of where they're comin' from. People do all kindsa things when they're scared.
no subject
[sounds pretty supportive to her, Majima!!]
no subject
[ He paused briefly. ]
So what do you think about them Sound Eaters? You figure they started as people?
no subject
I REALLY hope not. But some of them, like the one who was "born" and some of the others, just look so human.
[but then again, so does she.]
That doesn't MEAN human, though.
no subject
[ He painted wide swaths of blue as he typed with his free hand. ]
But even if that's how they started, as people... I ain't think that's what they are now.
no subject
Them being like zombies sounds potentially accurate. And terrible.
If that's what they are, you think there could be any way to reverse them being Sound Eaters?
no subject
Can't see how anyone could come back from somethin' that drastic.
no subject
[she sends the message, trailing it off with a frown and a quiet sigh.]
They may not act it, but do you think they remember it?
Being human, I mean.
no subject
If that happened to me, I'd --
[ want someone to just fucking end me already, was what he wanted to say, though that didn't seem at all appropriate for a setting like this one. Or a conversation with someone who was usually so upbeat. ]
Wouldn't want to live that way, that's all.
