[OPEN] Hold On
Featuring: Prompto and anyone!
What's Happening: Prompto gets his camera back, bums around town.
Day/s: early March
Content warning: Nothing yet, will update if something comes up!
I
[Prompto had been leaving the apartments he'd been assigned to help clean up, exhausted from a day of manual labor, when suddenly a native approaches him and shoves some items at him. He's confused for a moment, enough to almost mutter a perplexed, "Thank you?" before he remembers himself and signs it instead, but then he looks down at the items in his hands.
His clothes he'd been wearing before, and, more importantly, his camera.
He spins it in his hands, checking for any damage or signs it's been tampered with, but everything seems to be in order. "Nice," he can't help but breathe out to himself, luckily without anyone - or anything - to hear. He snaps a random picture of a nearby building; they've done something to the shutter, so it doesn't click, but the picture comes out like he wanted it to.
During breaks and at dusk, Prompto can be found taking the odd photograph or two, of anything that seems particularly interesting to him. Random buildings, nice trees, old statues or fountains, and occasionally people.
In fact, if someone walks by, they might just find a camera flash aimed at them.]
II
[There is something pretty weird about Reims, something he hasn't really heard talked about much. Maybe it's just because everyone else is already getting used to it, but Prompto notices it even more since he got his camera back.
He's taking a break outside, from helping soundproof houses, when he turns to whoever is nearest and types a message. He's not sure how to sign all of this yet.]
it's kinda weird that there are no animals, huh?

[OOC: If you have anything else you want to do with Prompto, feel free to start it off or hit me up at

He smiles and jogs over to Prompto.] You taking pictures?
no subject
While he's doing that, his eyes spot Sora's hood, and widen. He types his next question.]
is that a cat??
no subject
An excited nod and pulls out his large cat.]
Yep, got her back a few days ago. This is Mittens.
no subject
He smiles at Sora's approval of the picture, but then the cat is there, and he hesitates like he wants to pet it.
With his other hand, he types:] how do you keep her quiet?
no subject
Don't worry, Mittens looks friendly and so does her owner. Petting the cat definitely an option.]
She's super smart and hasn't made a sound since I told her not to.
[Perhaps because of the life she had was one where she had to be careful.]
no subject
He can understand the idea of a cat not making noise if their owner told them not to. Luna's dogs are smart like that, too.]
what a good girl.
[He's grinning as he types it.]
no subject
Yeah, she really is.
[The best cat in all of the worlds - including Wonderland. Sora waits a minute before texting again.]
What else have you taken pictures of so far?
no subject
Without answering with text, he holds the camera out to Sora. It's digital, so he can thumb through the photos himself, if he knows how. It's mostly pictures of plants and architecture and things Prompto personally finds interesting, with the occasional pictures of people, newcomers and natives alike. But if Sora goes back even further, he'll start seeing photos that consist almost entirely of some combination of himself and his friends, Noctis, Ignis, and Gladiolus.]
II
Come to think of it, you're right. I can understand it because many animals make noise of some kind, but I also haven't seen any bugs.
no subject
[He knows, realistically, that the lack of bugs is probably a bad sign - how are plants getting pollinated without any bees or butterflies? But he has to admit, it's nice to never have a fly buzz around or a mosquito bite or find a spider in the shower.]
it's weird without any birds or dogs or anything, though.
no subject
It is. I hear there are at least deer and rabbits, which are more so quiet, as well as fish, albeit for food. Which does make sense.
no subject
[It's a bit amusing to think of Noctis giving up their world so he can stay here and fish forever, though Prompto knows that would never happen. Still, he grins a bit, amused.]
still pretty crazy that that's all that's left.
no subject
[ He does remember Akira mentioning the effect of rain. ]
It really is. Although quite honestly, and more personally, there's a lot here that I've never seen before.
no subject
[That's an interesting theory. Maybe he should ask Noctis about it later.]
like what?
[There's no France in his world but a lot of things he's seen aren't that different from home.]
no subject
[He'll likely ask around as well at some point.]
Probably too much to properly list, but I think I'd say that that electricity thing is most impressive! Same with instant communication across distances. These devices are truly magnificent! Back home it takes at least a couple of weeks.
[In a relative comparison to this world, he's from a rather ancient point in history.]
no subject
[Okay, probably not that ancient. He's pretty sure it's only been a few hundred years since electricity was common in his world, if even that long. It's kind of scary to think about having to deal with daemons without any electricity, so he's pretty glad they've had it in his time.]
this stuff is pretty standard where I'm from. maybe even a little low-tech? guess there hasn't been much innovation while the world's been quiet.
no subject
It feels weird to use that term for it, but you're right. Basically everyone I've met here is very far into the future from the perspective of both my friend and I.
no subject
[It's pretty weird, that no one has heard of Eos. That people talk about the year "2018" like it's normal and not almost 1300 years in the future.]
no subject
no subject
Yeah, I guess it does.
What's your home like then?
no subject
no subject
were you on some kind of big whirlwind adventure? [He's interested in these "travel companions." He wonders if it's anything like himself and his friends, though he doubts this guy traveled around in a convertible.]
no subject
[Nope. Apart from horseback or carriage, by foot is the (only) way to go.]
I guess you could call it that, in ways. We're just out and around, hoping that we can make the country a better place.
[ Although she's who brought them all together, Jae-Ha doesn't see Yona as their leader. Sure, she's ultimately a princess, but that's not why he stands and fights for and by her side. ]
Regardless, they're family. I'll go anywhere with them.
no subject
that's like me and my bros. we were traveling around trying to help people too.
[Despite Noctis being a prince, Prompto doesn't really see him as the "leader," either. Sure, he usually decides where they go and what they do, but Prompto thinks he'll always be his best friend Noct to him. Even when he's officially crowned king.]
my best buddy asked me to go and so I did. [Which is his way of saying yeah, they're my family, but that's a little sappy to be putting down in print.]
no subject
It isn't anything I'd trade for the world, either, wouldn't you say so?
[ Another thought has him briefly pausing. ]
One of my friends is here as well, actually, although a little while back there were three of us.
II
yeah. i miss birds and stuff.
no subject
me too. wouldn't mind seeing a dog or a cat around, either.
[He's fine without all the big, scary things that live in the wilds, but it's weird that there's almost nothing. The most he's seen is a rabbit, once.]
no subject
[An important distinction.]
no subject
[He's never seen anything like that and he knows dogs that are magic.]
no subject
no subject
[He doesn't even know if these are technically "phones" but they work similarly enough.]
no subject
no subject
oh, right. guess it's not technically a phone, huh?
[It just looks and acts a lot like one, but it can't make calls.]
