MOD LOG #3
Arriving in style
Content Warnings: Fighting, death, violence
Themes: Survival, plot
It's early in the day when it happens. The red dust that seems to be everywhere sweeps through the city streets, mixing with the steady patter of rain and making it hard to see and breathe. All red and leaving the taste of copper if inhaled, what could have been an easy day without any trouble quickly becomes anything but. While those in the community are heading for cover or finding ways to continue on through it, the new arrivals begin waking up in different cities all over the world. There won't be anyone to greet them, and leaving the room through the door is their choice - after doing so, they'll immediately step out into the city they were assigned. The streets are empty, houses abandoned, everything crumbling and in ruins. There will be signs noting their location, which they'll catch a glimpse of before a sharp push forward causes darkness to engulf them.
Waking up for the second time, in Reims but not in the Reset Room, they'll come to inside the red dust as it whips through the streets of the community. They won't be alone for long. Another person will be waking up beside them, and after a few moments of disorientation, try to attack. They might have weapons or use their hands, and they will not stop until they've taken a fatal blow. Their blood is dust, and they, along with their weapons, disintegrate after they've died. Can you stop them on your own? Will someone come to your aid?
The Sight of Lightning
Content Warnings: Poison, sex
Themes: Survival, plot
The day after the storm, the same red dust will find its way through Reims and come into contact with every person. Since the dust is everywhere, some might not notice that it's floating through the community and know that something is off. The effects don't begin until night fall, where everyone will feel the desire to seek out companionship of many different kinds. Though it is not always the case, the people that saw each other in color will "want" to be with that person more strongly than they might already, and will be more likely to confess or do something about it. Some might feel an intense need to be around another person, though not necessarily sexually - almost as if they need that person around them to be happy or content. For some, it might be a desire that can only be fulfilled by more than one person.
The effects wear off the next time the person gets wet. This can be a splash of water across the face or fully submerged. Or even drinking something.

the sight of lightning
[ ooc: both prompts are open to all -- but if we haven't plotted anything regarding prompt two and you'd like a shippy thing with thor, please hit me up oocly first! one-sided crushes on him or a mutual need for platonic companionship are a+ always tho!! ]
the sight of lightning; platonic plz
Hey. You look like you could use a drink.
[ He was dressed in his usual dark suit, the top of his white-collared shirt left open. Not a new arrival, then, or he'd be in a jumpsuit like Thor. And while Thor likely wouldn't pick up on the difference, Majima was frankly feeling pretty great this fine morning. It showed in the more relaxed set of his shoulders, even the way he stood.
Two months since he'd last had a chance for an all-out brawl -- that could take a lot out of anyone in the business. ]

then he breaks into a grin. ]
Yes! [ the exclamation mark is very much implied by the way his eye lights up. really, his entire face does. ]
no subject
This place's soundproofed, in case ya aren't a fan of texting.
[ He moved smoothly behind the bar and opened up a cabinet to get at the glasses inside. ]
Some night, huh? You guys're a little early this round.
no subject
The devices are too small. [ he explains after a moment, though that's really the least of his worries. he settles on a stool at the bar, setting his arms atop it and watching as majima gets glasses out. ]
What do you mean, early?

lighting-ish
so, she sits, thumbing through a few texts picked up from the library and making use of her fluency in french to help (hopefully). a new-ish arrival herself, she wears a warm red jumpsuit. when she spots thor approaching (taking stock of the house, looking for a room, or whatever he's doing), she stares a little too long, trying to place the familiarity of his features. ]
no subject
not a fan then, probably.
he gives a wave, lips curling into a smile. hello. ]
arrival
she's knocked to her knees and rolling to rise when the offer of aid comes bellowing through the air. honestly, she doesn't know if it's meant for her or these assholes. her luck, it's reinforcements for thing 1 and thing 2 here. ]
Yeah! [ her voice is thin, coughing as she dodges another blow, then reaches out with her powers to twist her other assailant's metal pipe. unfortunately, the concentration it takes to use her powers leaves her own to babe ruth, who takes another swing at her knees, this time. she'll fall again, cursing. ] I've got one!
[ if he'll take the other. ]
no subject
but there is no time to linger on that now. there is a fight, and a woman needing his help. ]
I got him! [ the other one, he means. with that shout, thor joins the fray, fists swinging. he doesn't immediately go for another bolt of thunder, but there's a crackle of electricity sparking along his shoulders, between his fingers, turning his eye silver-blue. ]
no subject
What are you?
[ said with wonder, some delight, but also simultaneous to her throwing a man fully over her head without touching him. she reaches out tentatively with her powers, green kinetic energy threading to spark off the lighting rippling over her helper's form. with that combo she zaps the flying enemy. ]
no subject
[ the answer is quick and easy and there's a grin spreading across his features because a lot of things are terrible right now, but this is something he knows: fighting, winning. it's something he's always revelled in, something he can still find joy in now. less, admittedly, but still. ]
God of Thunder.
[ but she siphons some of the lightning dancing over his skin and his grin widens at the same time as his eyebrows raise. that's their enemies taken care of, then: he delivers one last punch and both are down for the count. ] And what are you?
so late i'm so sorry
never worry
throws down while I have a minute
He's kind of working on a budget so it's him quietly, oh so quietly, sweeping dust into a boot. Because boots are quiet. There are so many things wrong with the resource scarcity in this place don't even question. Not that it probably helps as he works he occasionally pinches and prods at the air because F.R.I.D.A.Y.βs running some builds for him only he can see.
The jumpsuit and glasses look is really not his thing by the way. At least he has slippers for extra stealth points.]
no subject
Hello! [ he mouths, grin wide. ]
Jfc I didnβt see you had a Thor at the town square prompt IβM DUMB sry smh
I need a lot of explanations and standing out where death prowls doesnβt seem the smartest. Not to sound clichΓ©, but: come back to my place?
nah it's all good
and it's just good to see one of his fellow avengers again. he doesn't bother typing out a response, he just nods, quick and decisive. of course. ]

lightning.
there's a bit of unease in her expression even when she returns his wave with a nod, something caught between relief and hesitation. as much as she's glad to see a familiar face, this is the second time asgard has lost her king, and she wonders how her people will fare bound on a speeding ship with loki at its helm.
but there isn't much they can do about it now, and she takes a moment to settle in place next to him, close enough for their arms to brush. she's still winding down from the excitement earlier, a dull ache in her shoulders that has yet to fade entirely, made all the more noticeable from the lack of alcohol in her system. ]

the fight had been a nice distraction from those bleak thoughts, but the fight is a day past now and they are still here -- with some answer, yes, but no way home.
her arm brushing against his is a welcome comfort. he shifts his weight, tipping it toward her. not enough to rest any of it against her, but enough that the brush becomes a steady point of contact. ]
no subject
he shifts and she leans into him in return. he's a warm and solid line against her side and though she wouldn't so readily admit it, it's nice. it helps ground her somewhat, a point of reference in a strange place with equally strange people.
after a while, she takes out her device to tap out a message, ]
un: warsong
what house are you in?

he is their king, and he isn't where they are. ]

[ his response is a little slow. these devices are pretty small, all right? and he's trying not to move his arm at all because he doesn't want to dislodge her. doesn't want to lose that point of contact. ]

after a moment, when it becomes clear no further reaction is forthcoming, he gets out the device. ]

It means that getting settled into the houses has been staggered, and then Steve was busy figuring out how to get himself clean without making a sound — so he knows Thor's around, but hasn't seen hide nor hair of him until evening falls. So the sudden desire to seek him out and maybe spend some time with the guy doesn't strike Steve as that out of place.
Turns out they're on opposite sides of the house, though Steve doesn't get all the way there — which is convenient, because he's not sure how to make his presence known without knocking or respecting someone's privacy. But Thor is on his way out or in, it seems, Steve finding him in the hallway. He smiles at Thor's mouthed greeting, even as his brow furrows, making it a more concerned expression. He points to his own right eye as though to indicate Thor's patch.
It shouldn't be hard to understand the question, so Steve doesn't bother with the device just yet. ]

he draws his shoulders up for a moment, lips thinning before he manages to smile. ]

It's been too long. You were missed.
[ Normally he'd clap Thor on the shoulder, but that would make noise, so he lifts it and lets his hand fall gently there for a few moments instead. ]
