MOD LOG #3

MOD LOG #3
Arriving in style
Content Warnings: Fighting, death, violence
Themes: Survival, plot
It's early in the day when it happens. The red dust that seems to be everywhere sweeps through the city streets, mixing with the steady patter of rain and making it hard to see and breathe. All red and leaving the taste of copper if inhaled, what could have been an easy day without any trouble quickly becomes anything but. While those in the community are heading for cover or finding ways to continue on through it, the new arrivals begin waking up in different cities all over the world. There won't be anyone to greet them, and leaving the room through the door is their choice - after doing so, they'll immediately step out into the city they were assigned. The streets are empty, houses abandoned, everything crumbling and in ruins. There will be signs noting their location, which they'll catch a glimpse of before a sharp push forward causes darkness to engulf them.
Waking up for the second time, in Reims but not in the Reset Room, they'll come to inside the red dust as it whips through the streets of the community. They won't be alone for long. Another person will be waking up beside them, and after a few moments of disorientation, try to attack. They might have weapons or use their hands, and they will not stop until they've taken a fatal blow. Their blood is dust, and they, along with their weapons, disintegrate after they've died. Can you stop them on your own? Will someone come to your aid?
The Sight of Lightning
Content Warnings: Poison, sex
Themes: Survival, plot
The day after the storm, the same red dust will find its way through Reims and come into contact with every person. Since the dust is everywhere, some might not notice that it's floating through the community and know that something is off. The effects don't begin until night fall, where everyone will feel the desire to seek out companionship of many different kinds. Though it is not always the case, the people that saw each other in color will "want" to be with that person more strongly than they might already, and will be more likely to confess or do something about it. Some might feel an intense need to be around another person, though not necessarily sexually - almost as if they need that person around them to be happy or content. For some, it might be a desire that can only be fulfilled by more than one person.
The effects wear off the next time the person gets wet. This can be a splash of water across the face or fully submerged. Or even drinking something.

It means that getting settled into the houses has been staggered, and then Steve was busy figuring out how to get himself clean without making a sound — so he knows Thor's around, but hasn't seen hide nor hair of him until evening falls. So the sudden desire to seek him out and maybe spend some time with the guy doesn't strike Steve as that out of place.
Turns out they're on opposite sides of the house, though Steve doesn't get all the way there — which is convenient, because he's not sure how to make his presence known without knocking or respecting someone's privacy. But Thor is on his way out or in, it seems, Steve finding him in the hallway. He smiles at Thor's mouthed greeting, even as his brow furrows, making it a more concerned expression. He points to his own right eye as though to indicate Thor's patch.
It shouldn't be hard to understand the question, so Steve doesn't bother with the device just yet. ]

he draws his shoulders up for a moment, lips thinning before he manages to smile. ]
my sister
hela, the goddess of death
[ answers first, typed out a little slowly because these devices are hopelessly small and outdated ]
it is good to see you again
no subject
It's been too long. You were missed.
[ Normally he'd clap Thor on the shoulder, but that would make noise, so he lifts it and lets his hand fall gently there for a few moments instead. ]

[ thor's response is not immediate only because he isn't fast enough a typer for it to be immediate — but the pause does not detract from the sincerity of his statement. he means it. he would not have minded steve's presence or that of his fellow avengers on sakaar. he would not have minded their presence in the fight against hela.
he would not have minded their presence in burying his father, but he never got the chance to do that. ]
what happened to your face?

Tony. Don't worry, I earned it.
no subject
[ with whatever. if steve earned it, surely everything is fine now that tony has beaten the shit out of him? the scales are balanced again?
don't tell him the avengers broke up, steve. or at least tell him you'll come join him in the revengers. ]
no subject
I don't think so. I still won.
[ There's no sense of victory to be detected. He nods for Thor to follow him, back to the deck. ]

dread. worry, at least. ]
i am not surprised
[ he follows. of course he does; he's good at leading, but he's always been happy enough to follow steve rogers' lead, too. ]

There isn't much on the deck, though more than might be expected, given how little is in the other rooms. Steve's made a sort of bedroll on the floor out of the blankets that were among many he'd brought back with Natasha at her request, along with a couple chairs, once of which he'd taken and is currently set near the windows. There's also what seems to be a workbench, some empty shelving, and a few mysterious scorch marks on the floor, all of which were already here. Steve eschews the chair to sit on the floor and waits for Thor to join him, grateful for his familiar presence after again finding himself someplace he never asked to be. ]
I didn't know you had a sister.
[ Just the, uh, adopted brother. ]

[ thor almost heaves a sigh, something that would have been big and loud. he catches himself in time, sitting down next to steve. between the two of them, they make the room appear small or at least smaller, even sitting on the floor as they are. ]
my father held her imprisoned, but upon his death, she broke free
keen to conquer asgard
[ so that happened ]
and the first thing she did was destroy my hammer
