MOD LOG #3
Arriving in style
Content Warnings: Fighting, death, violence
Themes: Survival, plot
It's early in the day when it happens. The red dust that seems to be everywhere sweeps through the city streets, mixing with the steady patter of rain and making it hard to see and breathe. All red and leaving the taste of copper if inhaled, what could have been an easy day without any trouble quickly becomes anything but. While those in the community are heading for cover or finding ways to continue on through it, the new arrivals begin waking up in different cities all over the world. There won't be anyone to greet them, and leaving the room through the door is their choice - after doing so, they'll immediately step out into the city they were assigned. The streets are empty, houses abandoned, everything crumbling and in ruins. There will be signs noting their location, which they'll catch a glimpse of before a sharp push forward causes darkness to engulf them.
Waking up for the second time, in Reims but not in the Reset Room, they'll come to inside the red dust as it whips through the streets of the community. They won't be alone for long. Another person will be waking up beside them, and after a few moments of disorientation, try to attack. They might have weapons or use their hands, and they will not stop until they've taken a fatal blow. Their blood is dust, and they, along with their weapons, disintegrate after they've died. Can you stop them on your own? Will someone come to your aid?
The Sight of Lightning
Content Warnings: Poison, sex
Themes: Survival, plot
The day after the storm, the same red dust will find its way through Reims and come into contact with every person. Since the dust is everywhere, some might not notice that it's floating through the community and know that something is off. The effects don't begin until night fall, where everyone will feel the desire to seek out companionship of many different kinds. Though it is not always the case, the people that saw each other in color will "want" to be with that person more strongly than they might already, and will be more likely to confess or do something about it. Some might feel an intense need to be around another person, though not necessarily sexually - almost as if they need that person around them to be happy or content. For some, it might be a desire that can only be fulfilled by more than one person.
The effects wear off the next time the person gets wet. This can be a splash of water across the face or fully submerged. Or even drinking something.

Yuuri Katsuki | Yuri on Ice!!!
[The dance studio run by Victor and Yuuri has its doors figuratively open to allow newcomers a place to seek refuge from the chaos of the day. The two skaters take turns watching through the peephole on the front door to see if anyone needs to be let in, although not having any weapons or any fighting experience means they can't risk running out into the madness themselves.
Yuuri still has his anxieties on days like these, although he's becoming better at keeping his composure. It helps that Victor is nearby, and when he has a spare moment he can be found squeezing his hand or leaning against him. He tries to only do that when nobody else is watching, however, not wanting to be impolite to any guests.]
Victor Nikiforov | Yuri on Ice!!!
Victor and Yuuri are both around for these prompts, so anticipate thread jacking!
[Victor is upstairs, watching the door to the studio with a keen eye. Or, well, as keen as it can be looking through dust and rain. He can see some fighting going on, but he's ultimately powerless in the face of violence. At best, he'd get in the way and at worse he'd end up gutted in the street, which isn't something he'll risk. What he can offer is a safe haven to anybody he can recognize as not totally crazed. If he spies anybody familiar or trying to escape, he unlocks and opens the door, poking his head out to yell to them.]
Hey! This way! Here, here! [The dance studio is a two story building, with heavily latched windows and doors. It should serve as a good hide away for those in need.]
Stay Close to Me (Day Two - Yuuri only)
Yuuuri.... [it's a familiar whine, if more quiet in the basement of the studio. Those taking cover from the storm had left and there's a huge relief lifted from Victor to know they helped at least some escape a gruesome welcome. He reaches both arms around his fiance, embracing him close and burying his face into the man's mop of black hair. It's a little dusty, but that's alright, he doesn't mind breathing it in when it's his Yuuri. He's feeling more and more overcome with emotion with each moment they're alone. He thinks how stoic Yuuri could be, tending to those in need, even if he knew it was the man playing good host to ease his own nervousness.]
Are you doing alright? When you put on that strong face you look so brave! But then I get worried, you know... [he needs you to be okay, for the both of them]
no subject
He'd done the best he could to protect himself from the violent, whipping dust outside, but inevitably, he'd had to find off one of those creatures, and he'd inhaled some of the dust as a result. His lungs were on fire, his eyes were blurring with tears and at the very least, he could stay in here for a moment, at least just to catch his breath.
As soon as he has enough breath to speak between coughs:]
Young— native girl and boy. [Cough.] Children. Have you seen them?
no subject
No children here, I'm sorry. Do you need some water? [you sound like death, Akechi..!]
no subject
No, open the door back up. I need to go back out.
[There's fiery determination in his eyes, despite the fact that he is clearly in no condition to immediately resume his search.]
no subject
No, you're nearly collapsed. Catch your breath.

The studio
Victor, you in there?
[ It occurred to him that Victor might not be inside -- that in fact he might have been caught out in the rain and storm. Majima was rather hoping he hadn't, considering the raged-out nutjobs running about the streets at the moment. Did the guy know any self-defense...? ]
no subject
M, Majima, are you okay..!? [he's speaking hushed out of habit, but there's really no need with the rain coming down. He clears his throat, waving away dust brought in with the man]
Do you know what's going on? [the last storm brought more calm that chaos, but that doesn't seem to be the case this time]
no subject
[ Maybe Victor also wouldn't like the dust Majima was tracking inside, though he had the decency to stand by the door. Look, he couldn't help it ok. ]
There's people outside -- armed and dangerous, as ya might say. Only I ain't sure people's the right word, 'cause I think they're made of dust.

A good thing you made it here, are you hurt?

At the Door
Victor--!
[She rushes to the door when she spots him, glancing up in concern and worry.]
Are you all right!? [She peers behind him to see if there's any injured. Her senses are all mixed up due to the rain and the amount of blood that currently bathes the town.] Make sure everyone stays inside, okay!
no subject
It's safe in here, please, come inside!
no subject
No- I'm part of the patrol and there's still people out here that need help.
[She can't just leave them and she takes the job and position seriously. Whatever these things are, they aren't strong, just plentiful. And that's the problem. Her gaze returns back up to him, glancing over him for any injuries or the scent of blood in the air or establishment.]
Is anyone injured? I can get help and bring them to you.
[Her eyes, normally a soft brownish red, are a deep crimson. She can't exactly ignore the scents that saturate the air even despite the rain and her body reflects the fact.]
Moreover, if I find anyone in trouble I'll bring them here. You need to make sure to arm yourself if you haven't already-- pipes, wooden boards, knives-- whatever you have just in case one of those things tries to get inside.

Affront the studio he firmly grasps a frail woman's wrist with his human hand. With a tug he drags her behind him before a sharp blade, aimed for her chest, can find home. How shameful. The thrill of a fight burns deep within Kija, as well as disgust for the creature that is willing to kill an innocent who is incapable of defending themselves. May these creatures face the wrath of heaven.
His right arm swings back, and in place of a hand is a gigantic, white claw. With a swing his claw tears threw the flesh of three men, knocking them to the ground. Before his eyes they falter for but a moment, before disintegrating into dust. Despite the gruesome scene, a fourth charges but stops dead in his tracks... as a claw pierces through his chest and out the other side. He only has a moment to look surprised, before he slumps, and then, like the rest, turns to ash.
Any who are willing to engage another in battle with the intent to kill should enter into it wit the knowledge that they might die instead. He has no remorse for a creature that would kill indiscriminately. More important is--]
Are you all right?
[He turns to the woman in concern, who is a mix of shock, fear, and awe. She nods vaguely and he looks up, eyes scanning the street until-- AH! There's someone in that doorway. It's that dance studio place.]
AH! You there-! [He points with his claw toward the individual in the door.] Keep that door open!
[Gently, in contrast to the bloodshed a moment before, he smiles back down at the woman, his pretty pale skin and white hair making him stand out among the dust and carnage.]
You will be safe in this place I think. Please come with me. [And he's careful to guide her gently to the entrance. Whether the door has been shut or remains open, he'll speak to whoever resides on the other side.] This woman requires shelter during the battle. Please allow her in.
no subject
The claw itself may have been more of a shock to him when he first arrived, but he's since met a number of different beings and it will only get a moment's glance.]
Ah, yes. By all means, she can stay as long as she needs to.
no subject
. . . Apologies for whatever is left on them after battle.]
Thank you. That is very noble of you. [Pat pat. He tries to be gentle with the claw, at least.]
no subject
N-not at all. I wish we could do more to help, but neither my partner or I have any fighting experience.
