FEATURING akechi + u
WHAT'S HAPPENING? just a day in the life, and also, house 8 mingle in comments!!
DAY feb 12 - feb 15
CW none in top, will be marked if necessary~
NOTES state of ja boy
JOGGING.
Akechi really needs a proper set of atheletic wear... Granted, it's not really his biggest concern right now as he jogs along the sand paths. It's not as engaging as rock climbing or as refreshing as cycling, but he gets far too restless just sitting around during his spare time. And falling out of shape would be... what... unseemly? Disgraceful? Either way, exercise seems to be one of the few things that keeps him from wallowing in despair, and with an objective, it keeps his mind busy.
Indeed, as he walks around the outer-most routes, if one happens to be around, they may notice him actively scanning the area... and possibly getting frustrated as a result. Miserably, his hand comes up to touch at his hair, which shines a bit from grease. Perhaps the shower would be a luxury, but at least some proper toiletries would be nice? ... his hair is suffering... And it bothers him much more than he'd really like to admit...
KNITTING.
This is so much more difficult than any layperson would take for granted. In fact, Akechi had gotten so frustrated and discouraged at points that he'd sometimes given up. And yet, even as lethargic as he still is... there's something about this challenge that grates against him.
He won't let himself be beaten.
So maybe you're a knitter too, or maybe you've just happened to stumble upon the place where they're keeping their resources for this, in which case... you may see Akechi working very, very hard at getting better at knitting.
It's a point of pride, okay?
Perhaps he's so into it he doesn't even notice your presence, in which case, you probably shouldn't try sneaking up behind him... but, well, the option is available. Or maybe he's just finished a course and is examining his work. But for the love of god, do not rip out his course, accidental or otherwise... you have been Warned.

no subject
It's coming to meet the stranger. Once at Akechi's feet, it plops down on its butt and those little round front paws are lifting off the ground to put them on the human's legs. Stubby little tail wagging happily.
Careful of the horn.]
no subject
dear
god.
Akechi's face immediately melts and he reaches down to gently pet it around the horn.
IT'S... TOO CUTE, HE'S ALREADY INFATUATED...]
no subject
Her owner only now turns around - suddenly aware of her absence at his side.]
Xi, where'd you--? [Sora's voice is quiet and cuts off when he sees what's happening. Then laughs softly as he crosses over.]
Guess you found someone to play with, huh girl? [His fingers scratch her back.] Sorry about her, she's a little excited about being let out after a long while.
I hope it's okay if she stays around, she knows to be quiet.
no subject
He reaches down into his pocket to retrieve his device, and responds:]
That's fine, though I suggest that you keep to your device if you wish to converse, even inside these houses.
It is your choice. But the natives are particularly sensitive to sound, and being subdued by one of them isn't pleasant.
no subject
Sora shrugs because whatever the natives do can't be nearly as terrifying as being subdued by others he's known in the past, but pulls out his device too. He might not care about himself, but he won't let someone else experience it.]
Not really used to having to be quiet all of the time, especially where I live.
What do the natives do to subdue someone?
no subject
[... and Sora will be one of the rare few people to actually see Akechi smile because. Xi is just too cute? He's letting her lick his right hand while he types one-handed with his left.]
I had a hand rather firmly pressed over my mouth, the first day I came in. Who knows what he would have done had I not quickly fell silent.
[They don't seem like a violent people, but they certainly are a paranoid, frightened people, and it wouldn't surprise him for them to lash out like cornered animals.]
no subject
[He won't know how rare this moment is until he knows Akechi better but Sora does at least know that a lot wouldn't smile in a situation like this. Once his hand has been completely slobbered on, she rolls over to reveal her tummy.]
That's not too bad. [Says the guy who's experienced worse at the hands of natives.] Did he look like he might have become violent?
no subject
As for it not being too bad... well, maybe not in and of itself, not. But when you have Akechi's past, let's just say that being grabbed like that? Has a way of giving you a heart attack...]
He certainly looked rather stern and was tense. It would not have surprised me if he had escalated things, had I not immediately complied.
By the way, what sort of creature is she? [She's adorable, and Akechi wants ten.]
no subject
That Sora can understand but they do it out of fear for their lives - not with the intend to do harm. Though people who are scared can become violent.]
They're scared. People can do terrible things when frightened.
Oh, that's a Spirit Dream Eater - specifically a Meow Wow. She's cute, right?
no subject
And she's adorable. [A Meow Wow... even the name is cute. Going to scritch that chin now!!]
Does she actually eat dreams?
no subject
[Especially for him who can express himself so easily with words at times. When that hand gets close, Xi will try licking it again.]
Yeah, I named her Xi after my youngest sister Xion.
Because she's a Spirit, she eats nightmares. There are Nightmare Dream Eaters who eat good dreams.
no subject
[Which is part of the reason why it's probably better to use the device, even in the relative safety of the soundproofed home. It reinforces good habit.
He grins at that little tongue, letting himself be licked. Though, when he reads the next message... his eyes widen a little.]
What happens to people who have their nightmares eaten?
[...Akechi would take dreams or even dreamless sleep over nightmares anytime.]
no subject
[Sora is a huge chatterbox, he has to remind himself constantly to not talk. At least when in the same space as a person.]
They have a good dream instead. It doesn't make it go away forever but keep one of these guys around and you'll never have another nightmare again.
[Of course, for Sora sometimes when his good dreams end and he wakes up to reality is just as painful as any nightmare.]
no subject
And I see.
[He considers this for a moment, scratching Xi's chin again.]
Nightmares have been a normal occurrence for me for quite some time, now. [... for several years.. give or take...] Nights of restful sleeping are few and far between, to say the least.
no subject
[He shrugs. It's true, though. What people can adapt to. Sora's seen it tons of times back in Fac. There were always some who didn't do so well and others who adjusted great.
A small smile.]
Well, Xi will be around all of the time so she'll be able to help with that.
[Even after they move out, one of his Dream Eaters will be patrolling the neighborhood at night.]
no subject
[He stops scratching for a moment to gently touch her nose. Boop.]
So am I correct in assuming you've been moved into this housing?
no subject
[Xi rolls over, tail still wagging.]
Yep! I took that room. [He motions to the room by the front door that would probably be considered a study in normal situations.] My name's Sora. Nice to meet you.
no subject
[... he hasn't bothered much in the way of pleasantries, lately. Hasn't found a need to.
In either case... he rises to his feet.]
I look forward to having a restful night's sleep.
no subject
When he gets up, Xi doesn't attempt to change his mind. Just looks up at him happily.]
You can count on it.
