MOD LOG #2

MOD LOG #2
Now we're back to the beginning
Content Warnings: Death, apocalypse, a shit storm generally, pigeon death
Themes: Survival, plot
As noted on the ooc plotting post, this prompt is in the form of a Network Post via the native who runs the Bulletin Board. The post can be found here. Out of the five separate teams, all groups decided to share the footage they found. On the morning of the first, the footage will go live as a compilation in order of oldest to newest. Character's devices will update at the same time. The weather is overcast and sullen, befitting the news, and characters can talk to each other on the network post or play out their reactions on the log here.
Will you stay or will you go
Content Warnings: NONE
Themes: Survival, plot
On the morning of the second, the locals will call a meeting at town hall. All soundproofing and partnering rules apply - find a person and help soundproof the area. This is so that everyone can speak during the meeting. The found footage has unsettled the natives and after the community takes a seat, Constance will share some interesting backstory. As one of the oldest members of the community, Constance wasn't alive when the Sound Eaters first came but she heard stories from her great grandmother. The 'tales' have taken twists and turns over time, leaving the survivors with a watered down version of events that amounts to - they came and everyone had to be quiet.
An elderly native will come forward and admit that they arrived through the Reset Room when they were a teenager and have been living there ever since. They tried to get home and they could never find away. Most interestingly, to those that listen closely to his story, is that he came with a sibling who was killed by a Sound Eater and wasn't Reset. Yet, he's known people to come through the Reset Room, die, and come back. Piping up from the background, another local mentions that those born in the world they're in now (natives) aren't reset when they die. It's not something they have any real understanding of. Arrivals tend to disappear at random times, stay in the community, or leave; those that choose to depart and explore the world never make it very far. Whether this is from Sound Eaters alone or someone or something else, the natives don't know. It's obvious they are frightened and don't go beyond what they know is safe.
The natives will now ask the characters if they will stay as permanent members of the community. If they choose to, they will be given the option to take on an apartment that is completely soundproofed, furnished, and will be accepted completely by the natives. This can open up doors for characters to become important parts of the community. No character has to agree to become permanent members. If a character chooses not to, the arrangement they're in will stay the same until a few months from now when the natives ask again. Arrivals are given the chance to talk to one another so that they can decide and digest the new information. There is also a comment below to ask the natives questions 'in front of' the entire community.
ooc: Players have until apps close this upcoming round to comment to the housing page saying that their character chose to be permanent members and are taking an apartment. The apartment is located closer to the Reset Room and are either one or two bedrooms; please note which one your character is taking.
Therefore I lie with her

The native Constance, who hands out the devices, has decided to step back from a leadership role and has submitted the names of those that she believes could lead the group better than she has. Please vote responsibly. During dinner, a group meal prepared and served in the town hall, slips of paper will be passed around with a pencil for everyone to vote. They will be anonymous unless the person chooses to share out loud who they voted for. There won't be much time for campaigning, but candidates are allowed to do so if they'd like - either handwaved or through their own posts/top-levels.
THE CANDIDATES:
- Frank Castle
- Erik Lehnsherr
- Teddy Upsilon
- Richie Tozier
- Akira Kurusu
- Merlan O'Keefe

kamala khan (ms. marvel) | marvel 616 | open
[Kamala is visibly distraught by all this. She has held out hope that if she's patient enough, the way home should present itself or one of the geniuses will figure out how to cross dimensions or something along those lines. The fact that this has been going on for generations already doesn't bode well for any of them. Still, she already knows her choice. She could never abandon hope of reuniting with her family. She can't join them even while still considering everyone a community.
That doesn't stop her from asking anyone (unless for some reason they were banned from talking to children!) what they think.]
What are you going to do?
wildcard;
[Open to anything! Just pm if you need to discuss it first.]

[Everything he's heard is definitely unsettling, but so much of it feels out of his control. Finding every single sound eater and hitting it with a baseball bat isn't going to get rid of them; they don't have a 'rest' cycle. Any sane person would not want to commit to staying here indefinitely and have to deal with that.]
I don't want to go back to where I'm from, but if there was a way to go somewhere better than here and there, I'd wanna do that. Are you going to stay?
no subject
[She pauses here because hasn't forgotten what he said. It breaks her heart that's how he feels.] My world is really weird, but you're welcome there if we ever figure things out. My parents would help you.
no subject
Really? [He can't help but smile. Even just a hypothetical alternative is nice one.] How is your world weird? Do you have old universe demon things too?
no subject
Uh... sort of, but not? How do I explain? [She hums thoughtfully.] Okay so superheroes and villains are totally a thing. Sometimes magic gets involved and that's where demons could kind of maybe get involved? But, Doctor Strange would totally handle it! That's the fun part about having superheroes. They rescue us all the time!

[He can't help but feel a twinge of envy; the people in Derry were apathetic at best, and ill-intended at worst. That was all he knew when it came to adults, and despite having met a lot of people outside of Derry at this point, it's still surprising.]
Your world sounds so cool. It's like something right out of a comic book. I had a bunch of those back home and always thought it'd be way more interesting to live in one of the comic books than back in Derry. It's just awful there, you wouldn't like it.

The other teenage girl comes over to her and Arya is still staring ahead of them, watching Constance curiously. A leader. Openly giving up her power to someone else. And letting the people decide? This isn't familiar to Arya in the slightest. Perhaps its simply that there's not much power to be had in this place that giving it up isn't so hard a thing.] This place will never be my home.

I also have other things left to do there too. [People to kill.]

[And now she's stuck here. In this place. It can't be like this. She needs to see Jon. And needs to get back to Bran and Sansa.]

team eight task
Hi, hi! The locals pointed me your way. Do you have any ideas for an app you'd like on these devices? All I can think is how much I miss Instagram!
no subject
no subject
We could try to justify it somehow? Maybe it could double as a tracking device? Like, take a selfie and it would tag your location!
Do these things have GPS, I wonder?
no subject
Do you think we should put it to a poll or just suggest it outright and bypass democracy??
no subject
Let's get a photo app made! It's useful, if anybody is annoyed, they can make there own thing. [that's how it works, right? Something something free market?
Victor is selfish.]

I'm joining them, at least for now. Until we can figure out a way home that will keep everyone safe.

Jess sticks around, overtly eavesdropping on other peoples' answers. "Constance" and her throng can't seriously not know what hers will be but then some idiots are so thick there's no getting through to them. Kamala's raw display of emotion, however grown-up she's trying to be about it, sets her apart from them easily. Sitting crosslegged on some surface that is not meant for sitting, Jess tucks her whiskey behind her thigh without losing an ounce of integrity to her slouch. ]
Ask them if they ever tried nuking the Room.
no subject
There is a few second pause as Kamala thinks this over carefully.] That's... actually a really good question. Why ask that now?
no subject
You guys. [ she drones, then drags her gaze over to Kamala under a heavy blink. Jess had her suspicions that the natives weren't always such. Now it's clear they're the descendants of the cowards who stayed behind to circle the drain. And Constance sounds like the leader of a cult that forbids the taking of personal responsibility (so, like, all cults). ] This shouldn't keep happening.

It's a scary thought to think she could live an entire lifetime away from her family. There's of course the other scary thought that she has no idea how long she could live with her healing powers so what? Is she going to spend many decades, maybe even a century or more here watching people suffer?]
You're right. We can't keep allowing people to come into this situation. [Even if they lose their chance to go home in the process. Maybe especially so since doing the right thing always has a cost.] It'd be selfish of us not to at least try even if they failed in the past.
[Something tells Kamala they never even bothered though. Everyone seems so content to live like this.]
