I'm so fancy/You already know [closed]
Featuring: Will Byers (
deadboywalking), Eddie Kaspbrak (
clussy), and Majima GorΕ (
justbeingknife).
What's happening: Thrift shopping! Makeovers!
Day: March 1
Content warning: Nerd Level S.
It'll be fun. Trust us.
[ It was with that message that Majima had insisted that he and Eddie take Will somewhere, though he was being weirdly cagey about where. Someplace down Rue Lafayette, anyway, which was where they were currently -- following the newly-laid sandpath to new and exciting* parts of Reims.
They passed dusty old homes, abandoned storefronts with warped glass, but the general consensus was it wouldn't be much further. ]
With all the crazy shit going down right now, it'll be a good change of pace.

i don't know how to tie a tie.
no subject
He does quietly snort at that boa-toss. That's what he thought. He wanders after Will and Majima both.)
I'm sure Majima knows. Plus I know too.
(Though Majima probably knew how to tie a fancier knot. He seemed like that kind of dude. Now that they were in front of suits, Eddie picks through some out of interest himself. Suits were always good to have.)
no subject
Let's see... red's too flashy for a blazer, you'll end up lookin' like a host. Maybe a colorful lining, though.
[ He picked out a combination of dark grey suit with a blue inner lining, white shirt, and metallic, pale green tie, then held it up near Will. ]
Whattaya think? Maybe a little too conventional?
no subject
[Will blinks at the outfit, then turns to look back at Eddie for cues. Designated fashion friend, help.]
i...like blue?
no subject
blue would look nice on you.
(Red a little better, but Eddie realizes he has a bias towards that color. He steps forward to look between the suit and Will. He grabs a blue tie, a shade lighter than the lining, but still in the same range of coloring and holds it up on the other side of Will.)
Maybe the blue tie would work better than the green? Matches better. I like the dark grey with blue though. And I like a lighter tie. Will should be in soft colors. (An agreement with Majima, truthfully.)
no subject
Uh, the host of a club.
It's nice. The old black suit/black tie deal, it's a little too formal these days. You'll look a lot smoother with colors that're a little off what's expected.
[ Fashion advice from a mobster, aren't you glad Will. ]
Oh, and ya definitely need a matching handkerchief.
no subject
Still, he likes the colors he's given. They're sort of like toothpaste. Fancy expensive toothpaste.]
a handkerchief? but i'm not even sick.
no subject
(Now Eddie is only mildly intrigued by this host club idea. He only knew like, two types of clubs. The clubs where adults went to drink and dance, and the type that his friends had made up.
His eyes go to Will and he cracks a tiny grin.)
no you goober. it's not a handkerchief like that. it's for looking nice. well. i guess you could technically give your handkerchief to a girl or however that works I dont really know?
(He makes a funny face, before going over to where they had some handkerchiefs laid out on a table.)
no subject
Uh... a host club. It's filled with good-looking guys you chat up and have drinks with. Point is, most of them are pretty flashy.
Anyway, a spare handkerchief's just good to have around. These ones look nice.
[ So many fancy silk squares. Reds, yellows, blues, purples... ]
no subject
Will's already looking at the handkerchiefs, and deciding that he wants all of them. So bright and colorful! But then he gives them both an anxious look.]
do i HAVE to give them to a girl? [He supposes if it's a requirement, he could give one to Max or Kamala or Kara or someone. But he really wants to keep them D:]
no subject
That explanation has Eddie burning bright red. He decidedly decides...to...not comment, instead awkwardly looking away before glancing off Will's screen.)
No. it's just something i see boys do sometimes.
no subject
Well, you should if they get somethin' spilled on 'em, or if someone's bleeding. Can't just leave a lady hanging like that.
But most of the time, it's just a nice decoration.
no subject
But then he picks up one of the baby blue handkerchiefs and carefully tucks it into the knotted part of his cape. There we go, ensemble complete.]
how come you know all this, majima?
no subject
Majima is cool that's why.
(Said very matter-of-factly of course.)
no subject
Majima, noticing Eddie eyeing a few of the suits, picked out two jackets: one in a warm grey and another in a slightly more subdued shade of red that might be a little easier to color match. He cocked his head at Eddie. Rules were meant to be bent, right? ]
Back home, I used to manage a hostess club or two. When you do that, you gotta know a thing or two about suits -- and your hospitality's gotta be on point. Like bein' a whole other person.
no subject
is a hostess club like a host club only you talk to girls instead? you MANAGED one?
no subject
That red suit.....
Eddie makes a beeline for it, gently taking it from Majima's hand. He gives a tiny, but incredibly bright smile up at Majima. It's quite evident he appreciates it. He scurries over to the ties, now a little excited, and sorts through them.
He winds up selecting a cream taupe tie with a very faint white floral pattern. He holds it against the dark red of the suit and smiles in muted satisfaction. Yeah no, he's gonna go try this on. The other two could keep on talking about host clubs. Kid's got a mission. He finds a matching vest to the tie. Then he proceeds to hesitate over dress shirts. White or black? After a second, he picks up a black shirt, nodding to himself thoughtfully.
Yeah Eddie's totally immersed in this, sorry guys.)
no subject
[ Majima couldn't help smiling at Eddie's enthusiasm. Yeah, that was a kid that loved his clothes. ]
Anyhow, what's that look for? I was pretty good at it, y'know!
no subject
Then, wrinkling his nose up at Majima:] did you fight the bigger clubs?
no subject
Either way, he winds up rushing off to change in the dressing room. He instantly likes how the suit looks in the mirror, turning this way and that to look at himself. What a spiffy young man. He opens up the doors and strolls out. His tie is perfectly knotted at the base of his throat and for a twelve year old, he looks rather well put together. He holds his arms out to the other two like whaddya think?
Not to interrupt of course. But you know. Fashion.)
no subject
[ He turned, looked Eddie up and down, then leaned back and put his hands together in a silent golf clap. The gesture oozed the kind of effortless elegance he'd employed back in his days in Sotenbori -- which was to say it was rather at odds with Majima's usual casual nonsense. ]
Lookin' sharp.
no subject
My turn. [His sign is still very clumsy, but the meaning makes it through. Will scurries off to change.]
no subject
Eddie winds up grinning when this time around Will at least seems more excited to get dressed up. He watches after him for a second, before glancing at Majima.)
What about you? You gonna be trying anything new on?
no subject
Jackets were one thing, but a deep red collared shirt with a dark tie? That was the little bit of understated flashiness that appealed to him as someone who'd been in the business. ...It did make him even more obvious, but seeing as how no one here seemed to be able to tell a yakuza from a handbag, he hardly thought it mattered. ]
Whattaya think?
no subject
He surveys the three of them, then signs awkwardly:] We look like a boy band.
